Hey, look, it went from 36 pages. Either MV went through here, or they deleted the first 18 pages. Either way good 4 them! TICALC.ORG IS ALIVE!!!

P.S. And that's a good thing :)

Chips
Gerhalt Account Info

I know I have said I was working on many programs (Which I am), I am currently writing (In ASM) Chips. About 3-4 years ago (I believe) some computers used to come with a game called Chips. You controlled a little guy, and had to collect computer chips while solving puzzles. You could go through teleporters, open doors with keys, push boxes into water to walk on it, etc. I am going to attempt to write this for the 83+. By the way, after I get it done hopefully it will include external levels. If anyone has ideas please tell me. Thanks! I have a few pictures... too bad I can't put pictures on posts. Thanks alot!

DUDE, NO WAY! I REMEMBER THAT GAME! I haven't even thought of it in YEARS! Awesome that you're making it. Here's a suggestion: Make it grayscale using duck's grayscale devpack. Games like that don't use much processing power (no constant movement), so the 30% slower thing won't matter. If you need a example prog, you should check out the newly-released Repton by Ben Ryves. It's really similar (engine-wise, not gameplay-wise) to Chips. Good luck!

I downloaded it... but something was goofed up. Probably my calculator. Anyways, I did download it. I was contemplating using grayscale, since the effect on the speed I believe would be minimal. I have the sprites down (And I can convert them to 4 shade grayscale). If you or anyone else has any suggestions, tell me!

Repton Bug 8-O
silent_fury  Account Info

As far as Repton goes, it worked fine for me. Until I exited. Then everything up and went to 4311. The cursor was sitting there blinking on the homescreen, and it seemed normal, execept that whenever you tried to select something out of a TI-OS menu (including reset RAM) it just displayed the blinking cursor again, without even clearing the screen. So I took a battery out, put it back in, and everything was normal; the RAM wasn't even cleared! I should probably tell ben ryves (he made it) about it...

There are a couple problems with my calc. Number one is even the intro screen doesn't look right. It is sort of diagonal. I tried resetting the RAM, and even that did not work. And I don't know if it's supposed to do this, but when you go left and right you go either 1 left + ! Down or 1 Right + 1 Up. I'm not sure...

Another Repton Bug (sort of)
silent_fury  Account Info

Ohhhh... I think I know what you're talking about now. Did the screen look out of alignment? If it did, you sent the wrong version to your calc. If you're going to be playing it in mirage, you HAVE to send the mirage version. You may have sent the VTI version.

LOL now you tell me, after I have already figured it out. I resent the mirage and ion versions, and it works fine now. You could be a helpful a bit sooner next time :)

I am currently working on a clone of the nokia game Snake 2 for TI-83/83+ asm. I would like if someone would agree to look at my source code and give me some advice. Also does anyone have any suggestions for extras/other play modes?

Though not very good at ASM still, I will gladly take a look. If nothing else it will help improve my skills. E-mail it to me at tgrmtn@nocharge.com! Thanks!

Thanks, I sent a message with my source attached. By the way, do you know anything about using the linkport in programs? I don't and would like some help.

I was looking at all of the programs that are out for TI-83+ BASIC and I ran across some wannabe little pieces of crap that the programers called "Hacking Games". Sorry to tell you this but NONE of them were anything like hacking. One of the games was having you to guess a number between 1-1000. If you chose a number that was to high it told you "The number is smaller" and vice versa for to low. Another one was like "CPU User has challenged you!", and from there you had a h/p number like it was a fight. Anyways, I had a good laugh and decided that there should be an somewhat "realistic" hacking program out there somewhere. Then I realized I was probably wrong and have now decided to make one. If anyone with any computer security knowledge has any suggestions one what I could add in to make the game better Email em to me. I'll look em over and decide whether I want to use the idea. If I do you will be put in the credits page. Well I'm out for now. Later

Shining Force: The Legend Returns
Gerhalt Account Info
(Web Page)

I am currently working on two 83+ games, both of which will (Hopefully) use 4-shade grayscale. This is the latter, based on the Shining Force series (See link above). Ah, you want to know a little bit about Shining Force? SF is probably THE FIRST tactical RPG. It was originally created for Sega's Master System, then more installments in the saga were created for the Game Gear and CD System. If you have never played this, you are missing out. It is truly one of the greatest RPG's ever created, as you will find out as you play. There, now back to my game. I intend to remake it for the 83+. I am currently working on the preliminary writing down ideas, but soon I will start the actual programming work. Here are some of the many features I am going to include:
1.) Intelligent AI
2.) Classes & Promotions
3.) Weapons for the Classes
4.) Rings
5.) Cinematic Items (Such as the Force Sword)
6.) 16 Characters, your party includes 8
7.) Totally graphical
8.) Terrain Effects
9.) Treasure Chests
10.) Underground Battles
11.) Advanced Cinematic Storyline
12.) 4+ Chapters in the Story
13.) And much, much more!
Also, as I mentioned before it will be in Assembly and will hopefully utilize duck's 4-shade greyscale. I also have the tiles down. I am working hard whenever I get the time, but it will be quite a while. If anyone is interested, I have some screenshots. Please, tell me your comments, questions, ideas, etc. If the link is down (Which it probably will be for a few days) then don't say it's down... I already am aware of that. Thanks in advance for your comments! :)

Wow, you must be like the MASTER of BASIC in order to do that!!!
just kidding!

I know this doesn't belong here...but has anyone else not know if they've had a girlfriend or not? I'm not sure. It's really wierd. Seriously though...I don't know. Has this ever happend to anyone else?

I guess you didn't notice, but I said Assembly. There is NO WAY I could make it in basic. Also, you cannot use ducks grayscale program for basic.

Look around ticalc.org, I forget who it is located. Anyway, find the "Grayscale Developement Pack" and download it. Read the documentation, it explains it. I will post a link if I decide to stop being lazy and look for it again (I already have it downloaded).
