This is just a suggestion but I think it would be really cool to make a Star Wars First Person Shooter for the 83+ as well as the S.E. A game like Jedi Outcast or Dark Forces or something...I think it would get alot of downloads. Just a suggestion...

I haven't been here that long, so I may be wrong. But I think this post belongs in the "Programming Ideas" section.

Eternal Darkness
I will clear up on what this exactly is,
it is an RPG for the TI-83 Plus, yes 83 PLUS.
My original plan was it to be released for the 83, but I need the extra memory :(
I plan to make 4 parts for this RPG. Beware that although it says four, the map will be VERY LARGE.
It may seem like it uses the FFTOM core but it does not! Also, the demo that just got through is outdated. Sorry, but the next demo version I plan to release within one month. It is going to feature Part one.
So um.. here is what is planned for the DEMO:
Part 1
Features: Intoductory movie, walking overhead, 6 different kinds of enemies to battle, 5 spells, powerups, items, great artwork but does not compare to that of FFTOM 2, but can be compared to FFTOM.

Kinda similar to FFTOM right? ok so it is, but I will promise that this will show that with a little programming expreience (1 yr) and creativity, you can do just about anything!

I do need suggestions about things.
please feel free to e-mail me anytime.
e-mail: computerwiz2489@sunflower.com

also, I will be needing beta-testers soon, so please e-mail about that too.. I will be picking the first ten so....

if you do want to become a beta tester, I need the following,
5 people with a TI-83 Plus
also, a person who gets picked, he/she will need
-OS 1.12
-OS 1.13
-OS 1.14
-OS 1.15
5 people with a TI-83 Plus S.E
also, a person who gets picked, he/she will need
-OS 1.12
-OS 1.13
-OS 1.14
-OS 1.15

Thanks a lot!
My website is not updated yet with the new version screenshots so check back often!

Why does the OS matter?

I have 1.15 on my Silver, just because I plan to get a TI-Keyboard. But why does one need it to run a game?

Operating Systems do matter, for one, assembly programs tend to have incompatibilites with the current OS (sometimes)like what you see from Super Mario.
This program does use ASM programs that thankfully are not affected by the OSs yet but still, it ensures 100% full compatibility.
And so its like this my friend, if the OS doesn't matter so much, my just not stick with the TI-83 Plus OS 1? do you get me now?

Ok, time for another update!
I REALLY REALLY NEED S.E. TESTERS!
I HAVE ALL THE TI-83 PLUS TESTERS I NEED,
I ONLY HAVE 1 S.E. TESTER AND THAT DOES NOT HELP MUCH! SO PLEASE E-MAIL ME AND HELP ME OUT!
ok, and S.E. users, please note 1.12 is erased from the list, I only need ppl with
1.13
1.14
1.15
since 1.12 would be DEVASTATING to the S.E.

I also would love to have a great artist helping me. I am not a good drawer. Fair but not decent.
You know where to contact me!

I have an SE (with 1.14, soon to be 1.15 when I get around to it), and I would be willing to test. I would be willing to draw, too. Is this a BASIC or ASM program?

Sorry. I try to stay away from ASM programs. They don't like my calculator and my calculator doesn't like them. Why can't we all just get along?

Sirius
Wesley Cronk  Account Info

I'm working on a new Logic/RPG game called Sirius. It will have graphics (I made a text RPG a while back), with real time fighting. It will have six weapons and three different enemies. The level is stored to a seperate list, so you can load different levels. After I make the game and the level, I'll make a custom map editor. All in BASIC

One other thing....How do I run ASM stuff without Mirage OS? Mirage OS, sucks, seriously, so how?

The Sirius stuff (when I get around to it) will be at http://www.arasian.com/vortex

First of all, Mirage OS does not suck. And 2, i'm sorry to say this but Mirage OS is the best there is. Ion is a bit tricky and will get frustrating to handle. When I first got my calc, Ion overloaded my display driver for the 83+. So sorry man.

You must own an 83+ and not an 83+SE. Ask me if you want me to tell about the 30 or so programs it ruined, cleared my calc's RAM 9 (up to 23) times a day, killed my old link cable (for a while), and cleared my archive twice. Yeah, Mirage OS is really great.

Sorry about that. I will never let that app touch my calculator again.

Back to Siruis, I never realized that so many people were working on RPGs! Oh well. NEway. Hah! Does anyone else have a level editor? Anyway, it shouldn't be ready for a while.

Re: Re: Re: Sirius

oh I didn't expect that on an S.E. heh. The problem is that Mirage OS has a hard time integrating itself with the S.E. because it's supriority over the Plus. Hah, Mirage OS is scared of S.E.! THAT'S WHY IT DOES NOT WORK! j/k the only reason why it doesn't work (in my own opinion) is becuase the S.E. has a fricken, large, bethemoth, EEPROM. Hence more memory addresses, etc.. so that's why. Mirage is not optimized to be used with the S.E. only becuase the S.E. has more memory than the 83p.

Re: Re: Re: Re: Sirius

Well, the game has a mapfile. When you run the game, it makes a copy of the mapfile for modification when you play the game. the level editor lets you place objects in each screen, with different terrain types, directions to go, etc. Most of the data the game interprets, so the maps stay pretty small-2k each.

Oh yes, and um, use Ion then. It will get frustrating after a while since if you clear your RAM you will have to reinstall it again and plus it causes 2k memory leaks.. but hey, better than nothing

Re: Re: Sirius

Yeah, I just installed it.
I installed Plasma, too. How's that? So far it looks better (a little) than Ion.
I did notice the 2K memory leak. :)
