I need help implementing a grid on a very large map!
Tudor Achim  Account Info

Ok, I want to have a grid in a game. It's really similar to Morrowind. So basically I've finished the four towns, but I'm encountering problems in designing the Wilderness. So I have about 34 pics, and theres no problem in recalling them at a fast speed. However, I don't know how to actually implement the grid on the map.

So if I was at A3 and facing north, I don't know how to make it so when you press left, it remembers exactly where you are, but just changes the direction. And if I have too many "if" statements, it goes too slow.

I've tried making just random pictures appear from a terrain type, but then theres no way to show the town once you're outside.

If anybody can help I would really appreciate you emailing me at kinghunter4@hotmail.com

Hello, I just bought a brand new TI-89T calculator, and it is PERFECT except for one thing.... I miss my Scitools app from my 83+. This is such a big problem for me that i'm actually considering carrying both of them around just so I can do sigfigs and unit conversions. There's not a whole lot of software like that (and of that quality) for the 89 yet. If I had SciTools on my 89T it would be PERFECT. So....

How hard would it be to port SciTools to the 89T?

Is there anyone out there who would do it, or teach me how to do it (if it can be done w/ little experience)?

The Ti-89T has built in Unit Conversion (try [2nd]+3). For more details, refer to your Preview guide/manual.

As for sig-figs, try:

(Right-click, save as from webpage link above).

I got this off of ticalc.org, but I'm unable to find the file page.

The usage is:

sigfig("2.000 + 3.456988 * 1.23")
results in:
"6.25"

I'd like to use tigcc to develop a game in C/assembly. Unfortunately, tigcc is not available for the calculator model I own. So... I'm wondering if someone can do the unthinkable and provide me with a TI-89 rom so I can make use of an emulator. I believe I'll be able to make a decent game, so if you help me then there's a good chance that the TI-89 community will benefit. I can't justify spending $150 just so I can make a game. My e-mail is javamonkey2000@hotmail.com. By the way, if there is a legitimate route for me to obtain a rom, I'm all for it. I had heard that I could download an OS update from TI and use that (it was an 89u file). But Virtual TI wasn't able to use the file (I renamed it to *.rom).

how do you get the asm file onto the Calculator

the same way you get other files. just send it through a link cord to from your computer to your calculator. you can download TIConnect at www.texasinstruments.com and use taht as the software to do it. if you don't have a comp/calc link (which i'm hoping you do) then you're screwed.

Link-Multiplayer for more than two players with 89 Titanium
Sebastian Schmied Account Info

Since the Titanium has two link ports, the USB-one and the "normal" one, it is possible to to connect more than just two calcs. I think, three calcs are easily connectable.

Is it possible to create multiplayer games for three calcs? The games would propably be rather slow 'cause the calcs would have to send (and receive) signals to both link ports, but I think it would be worth trying.

I was thinkong it would be nice to have another first person shooter and Halo would be perfect. I am not knowledgable in ASM to write this program. It would look pretty reasonable on the 89 and OK on the 83-plus. Does anyone know how to do it?

Re: Re: Re: Game Ideas
chsprog1  Account Info

if programming in BASIC on the ti-83P, to search a string for a word or anything use Instring(.

i.e.
"hello how are you."->String1
123456789
Instring(String,substring)
Instring(String1,"how")
the calculator will return the number 7
7 is where "how" starts in the string.

Also
you can do practically the opposite with the Sub( command.

i.e.
using String1
Sub(string,begin,length)
Sub(String1,7,3)
the calculator will return "HOW" without the quotes.
"HOW" starts at 7 in the string and its length is 3 characters.

Do you get it?

P.s.
the Instring( function only returns the first instance of the substring occurring in the string.
