TI-Chess v4.00 released
Posted by Niklas on 11 November 2002, 16:31 GMT

TICT have released TI-Chess v4.00 for the TI-89, TI-92+ and V200. The most important improvements are:

  • Multilanguage support (english/french/german/spanish).
  • Opening book support: now the engine can randomly choose openings from a book if wanted.
  • Training feature rewritten: now chess puzzles may come with an intregrated solution.
  • Chess puzzle compiler completely rewritten: making own chess puzzles files is much easier now.
  • Opening book compiler added: you can make your own opening books if wanted.

The first volume of TI-Chess puzzles has also been released (TI-89, TI-92+, V200) and if that's not enough, you can also get 2014 opening lines (TI-89, TI-92+, V200).

TICT keeps updating their other programs, too: there is a new version of the TICT-Explorer, also for the TI-89, TI-92+ and V200.

And my files are STILL not being put up. Funny how TN talks about getting "fast service" and I HAVEN'T HAD MY FILES PUT ON HERE IN 3 MONTHS. EVEN AFTER E-MAILING MY FILES DIRECTLY TO THE ARCHIVERS. I WOULD *REALLY* APPRECIATE IT IF YOU WOULD TELL ME WHY THIS IS GOING ON.

Might be bias towards the great programmers, but personnally, I think it's because a) it's an update b) it's an update to a featured program
I guess the archivers felt it was important.

Yeah, that's probably it. They e-mailed it, they wanted to do a news item on it, so of course, they're going to upload it faster. That's my guess.

Are you going to make the site scripts or load the site again from the old mirror?

The timestamp for the oldest file of the ~350 in pending is 2002-10-24 23:51:53, so if your files are older than that, they have been lost, rejected or deleted (yes, I do that sometimes without notifying the author, with obvious files).

Mailing files to the filearchiver will get a standard reply (though with some variation, as they're written manually :) ) asking you to use the file upload form and mail back if that doesn't work and how/why.

ehh...

all I know is that I submitted a Font Editor for the TI-89 back in late August and it never made it on here. any idea why that would be deleted??

thanks for responding... I understand that you guys are busy...

maybe I should stop posting when I'm emotionally charged about stuff like that.

on another note, I have a TI-83+ now! yay!

I physically own an 83+, 85 (with about half the LCD busted), and an 89.

... the others are emulated.

You know, emulating a calc doesn't constitute owning it ... or, at least at last check it didn't ...

lol ... the innocent and naive Brit doesn't know about party favors ... then again, all the corruption's on OUR side of the ocean.
Party favors = euphemism for gifts associated with corruption

Actually, I meant party favors. Party favo(u)rs are little trinkets you give away to guests at a party. Like a ROM image.

I can see four options:
* It got submitted as something else than .zip (.rar, for example).
* It was a .exe file (not accepted, even if it's a non-calc program).
* It got lost due to a bug (unlikely but possible).
* You uploaded it under a different user name / author profile.

Feel free to re-upload it - the last two options probably won't happen again. =)

1. They were definitely a .zip .
2. not a .exe .
3. this wouldn't be my fault here
4. I don't have any other user names.

I even e-mailed them to filearchive@ticalc.org . Still haven't gotten a response.

It's not dot.tk's problem, it's http://cma.mine.nu/calcsoft which is where the actual site is stored. :(

It is dot.tks fault. If you go to it by http://cma.mine/calcsoft, it works just fine for me ALWAYS. My site also appears down, when calcsoft does, and so does Bogusti and greenlights, so I'm convinced that it is dot.tk's fault. I still like a dot.tk address better though...

Yeah, but sometimes it's not dot.tk's fault. I viewed the source and dotTK's code was up, but no cma.mine.nu/calcsoft's. Oh well, it's fine now.
