Virtual TI breaks quarter mil
Posted by Magnus on 15 September 2002, 10:25 GMT

Virtual TI, our top downloaded program of all time, has broken through a quarter of a million downloads! At the statistics count last night, it ended up at 250,009 downloads.

A big congratulations to the author Rusty Wagner - keep up the good work!

Footnote: The second placed program, W32Tran8x, has yet to reach 100,000. For full statistics, check our download statistics.

Try getting a USB->Serial adapter for your PC, or a USB->Parallel adapter (they do exist, but I do not know if they work under VTI).

All USB->serial adapters will work with the GrayLink cable but some of them may not work with the BlackLink cable (usually, cheaper adapters don't implement direct modem lines control). Anyways, you will have get a severe drop of perfs !

most USB-serial adapters are more expensive than buying the serial link from TI

I see that many of you are complaining about there not being any recent updates to Vti. While it does appear as though Rusty has disappeared from the face of this planet, the source code for Vti is available (see link). Guess what this means?!?!? You can make updates yourself. Yes, I know that it's hard to work on a program this complex that you didn't write yourself, but there are plenty of talented programmers here who I think are up to the task. So, unless Rusty mysteriously releases Vti 2.5 beta 6 soon, after a more than 2 year lapse, get to work and stop whining!

Hi,

I am currently attempting to modify VTi so that it can support the SilverLink cable (through the driver used by TiLP) as well as the home-made cables under Windows NT series.
But, I have a litte problem: I used C++ Builder 6.0 and it failed to link it...

Then, is there anyone who have C++ Builder 3.0 ?

OR you could pay absolutely NOTHING for a FREE C++ compiler that uses a Windows-based port of the popular G++ compiler. It's called Dev-C++, and you can get it at http://www.bloodshed.net/devcpp/ (or by clicking the Web Site link above).

Sorry, I misread your comment. I've only used VTI with C++Builder 5, but it wasn't too difficult to make it work. There are a few minor changes that you need to make to it. Change the library settings in the project settings to what they would be for a new project created with version 6.

I didn't have problems with libraries. I ran into troubles at the linking stage. It seems that the assmebler (tasm) does not export symbols correcly !
