Can someone create an APP for the TI 83 Plus that can be used to lock and unlock BASIC programs and hide/unhide ALL programs. I'd prefur something after the name "ORG" for alphabetical sake. Maybe something like "Protect" or "Personal" or something?

Also, what about a password protection APP that cannot be overriden by removing the batteries or a RAM Clear? Maybe modify the 83 Plus OS when the APP is loaded?

Anyone who can do any of these, PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE let me know. I'd appreciate it.

I don't program for the 83/83+, but I do know about it's hardware and software. What you want is totally possible. In theory, all you would have to do to have a program hide all programs is to copy the contents of the vat to a safe place, mark all the sectors to a single variable (maybe disguise it as a graph setup file) keeping track of what goes where. When you need everything to be shown again, just mark the sectors back to what they should be and change the vat to what it was.

Again, I don't know enough about the 83/83+ to program this. Maybe someone else does?

I'm new to 83+ assembly programming, but reasonably experienced at 86 asm. Maybe I'll try to get a version for that calc working.... Thanks for the idea! If I get a file into the archives, I'll give you credit, of course.

I've got a working version that screws the length word of a file (making it $fffe, so that when the OS adds 2 (for the length word) to get the file length, it comes out with 0 (it stores the real file lengths to an internal table, so you can unprotect the files by restoring the length word). You can't delete the protected files, but unfortunately, if you try to run them, the calc crashes. Maybe a VAT copy and restore would be better....

Actually, I think Kryptolo does that....

you're right but the only thing is Kryptolo can't override a RAM clear and keep them hidden. I need something to trick teachers so I don't have to keep unarchiving my games at the begining of class to make them look like they are gone and then ungrouping and archiving everything again at the end of class. I want something so when the teachers think they just wiped the memory completely clean they really have not. My teachers don't know the 83+ has FLASH memory, they only know about the 83 and RAM. Still looking for my APP to do this.

If you have an 86, download 86p2hex from the windows utilities section of the archives and use that.

What should I do? ;-)

Okay, I'm kinda frustrated now, so work with me. My TI89's link port has completely broke beyond my abilities to repair it. In addition to that I had a slight accident while installing a new Linux OS and erased all my WinXP files. I lost all sources for OmniOS, the 86->89 linking routines, and the newest touches done to MegaMan 89. I do still have old versions of MegaMan and the translator program on a CD, though.

Anyway, I need to program something (sudden urges, you know). I obviously cannot work on OminOS or the linking routines, so what should I work on?

Please vote:
*MegaMan 89
*version 3.0 of translator (I do have many new things planned)
*Idea I had of making Final Fantasy 8's or 9's card game

I'm pretty sure what answer I'll get, but tell me anyway.

WinXP Stinks++

Idea: Open the 89 and connect a link cable to the traces.

You didn't burn some backup CDs?

You can't find anything?

If you can't, write down what you remember ASAP and work from there.

ARGHH!! !#$@ing %^&&@!$# Windows!!

I spent a few hours trying to fix or connect a link to the copper traces when it initially happened. I know it should have worked, but it didn't.

You'll be happy to know that I recently (last night) bought a new TI89 (YAY!). I really shouldn't have knowing the amount of money I have, but I just couldn't resist.

The outcome of the projects are not nearly as cheerful, however. The last backup it seems that I made was from about a year ago. So I've basically fallen a year behind. The only sunny side to this is that I know the programming wasn't as careful as it could be and the year wasn't too productive of a year to begin with.

Oh, well. I'm not giving up on any of them, but it'll take some time.

How about synergy. If you want to know the meaning check a dictionary. I think it is most appropriate.

ensure that all If...Then clauses are ended. Dont use Goto especially to get out of If/While/For/Repeat loops as it clogs up the FPS
