Back up all your files (or just remember which games you had), then reset EVERYTHING-including the archive-that's possible on the '83+, right? When that's done, put the games and MirageOS back on. If you still have problems, reset everything, then send a new OS to your calc.

Try, after backup, pressing MODE, ALPHA, S, and ENTER. This runs the Calc self test. I have no idea what this does, but it might help.

what this actually is it was used for the texas instrument's team of programmers who actually programmed the calc like you said, as a self test what it does is clears everything on your calculator and fixes it up the way it was before they shipped them out

Would it be possible for someone to make a program for the 83+ that can hide/unhide/lock/unlock programs like Attrib for the 82?

MirageOS can do that, BUT HERE'S THE PROBLEM:
Not every program can be viewed in MirageOS; so somebody needs to make something that will view ALL programs (hidden ones too), and allow you to lock/unlock, hide/unhide, and you don't need this but it would be nice to also allow archiving/unarch...
It would ALSO be cool if there was something that could make programs NON-COMPATIBLE with MirageOS have the stuff that will make MirageOS notice it.

The program will act as if it was run from the home screen.
Example: your target program must be in RAM but your program that starts with ':' (colon) can be archived. It will run the target program from TI-OS but it will show up with your "shortcut" program in MirageOS. hope this has helped.

Re: Miscellaneous Ideas
Matt M

I also posted this in games but what the heck, I'll try it here too...

Someone PLEASE tell me how to create levels for Phoenix TI 83+ !!! I have tried using the dos programs downloaded from ticalc.org and included with the program "Phoenix.8xp" but they don't work. I have also tried the program "Phx Level Editor" in the "Windows Programs" section and it only makes it in ASM code. If anyone can tell me how to turn the ASM into a *.8xp file, PLEASE E-mail me: millermmail@yahoo.com
Thanks.

Re: Miscellaneous Ideas
Matt M

Hey, can someone create a chat program in ASM (or basic if that can't be done)? I've tried EVERY chat program available but none of them work. I even tried making my own but I can't make it work either. It would need to be for the 83+ to the 83+ SE or between SE and SE because I have a 83+ SE and most of my friends have 83+ (black) calculators. I wish I could talk during history class but you all know how teachers are about talking... My teachers even complain before class. PLEASE HELP. If one comes out that has been successfully tested, please E-mail me. I have a theory of how to make a long link if I can find a program that will work on a short link.

Re: Re: Re: Miscellaneous Ideas

If the regular 83+ will work, so will the 83+SE. They are the same except for the amount of memory and the processor speed. I have tried all the chat programs listed in the 83+ and 83 MISC Basic Program catagories at ticalc.org and none of them work or they work for a short time and stop working. Any ideas?

see the TI-83+ Silver Edition Shipping topic (URL above):

"Nearly all MirageOS and Ion programs should be compatible, except for ones that use the link port (ZTetris 2 player, Bomberkids, etc). The Silver Edition uses a new hardware assist on the link port which means that you can only send in TI's protocol. (No, this was not done for the purpose of not allowing link games, it was done to both speed up link transfers, and to allow the calculator to send/receive data while the CPU is doing something else.)"

All the games mentioned DO WORK IN MIRAGE OS!!! (bomberkids, Ztetris 2 player, Checkers, etc. I KNOW, I PLAY THEM EVERY DAY ON THE BUS RIDE HOME!!! (but if you actually plug into another calc, they work better)

Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Miscellaneous Ideas

As I said before, THEY DO WORK but you have to do it right.

You will need:
- WORKING link port on both calculators
- WORKING link CORD
- The game shell (like MirageOS)
- the game (like Ztetris)

Instructions for dumbies:
1. turn on your calculator
2. turn on your friend's calculator
3. plug your calculator into another calculator (with a working link)
4. make sure you both have the game shell (I like MirageOS and I know it will work with this per these instructions)
5. make sure you both have the game
6. run the game through your shell
7. Select 2 player link mode
8. do not unplug the link cord
9. play the game as the instructions say for the game

- to run Ztetris in 2 player mode press [ALPHA] [Y=]

What happened here? HTML gone bad? BTW, you can find Ciaran McCreesh's tutorial (the one I used to learn assembly myself) for the '86 (but it applies to any Z80 calc, such as the '83, '85, '82, and '83+) if you click on the Programming link at the top of the page, then Resources.
