Because almost everybody here thinks that Microsoft is the embodiment of evil.

Well, they are, but VB still is a decent language.

I agree, VB was a great language for me to get introduced to OOP programming in. I haven't used it since I was 12 (18 now), but I do think the language has educational value and may be the only language some people write in.

They are also missing C#, but I suppose that would fall under "Other C-derived language"

They are also missing LISP (although that is not my most-used language), which does not really fit any of the categories.

VB6's OOP wasn't very strong (when compared to C++ or C# or whatever), but VB6 is still good for quick throwing together apps, and is definitely good for learning (since it's very simple.)

I agree. But it demonstrated some of the basic principles of object oriented design.

If you want a good OOP language, check out Python (link). It's easy to learn, yet powerful enough to take on big projects. Plus, it uses Tkinter, a powerful GUI kit.

Wait...why do I think microsoft is the embodiment of evil? If you ask me, I would tell you that I KNOW microsoft is the embodiment of evil! Anyone need proof? ^link^

Yep, I think that almost everyone who has suffered from a Windows operating system can say that.

Yep, some people have no problems with Windows, which is why I said 'suffered', not 'used'.

Sun Microsystems most certainly is rivaling Microsoft for the "Embodiment of Evil" title. They are most definetely coming the Microsoft of Linux. I hate Sun.

Yeah, but they make some pretty good stuff. Didn't they make Java and JS? So lets just stick to hating MS.

No, I believe Netscape invented JavaScript. They named it JavaScript just for marketing.

Yeah, they did create Java, which is essential to web programming, along with JavaScript...

Sun is just too wishy-washy with Linux. They say they like Linux and sell their "Java Desktops" which use Linux, then they'll turn around and say Linux is trivial compared to their precioussss Solaris. Sun will probably wither away unless they can make up their minds.

I agree with the 'wishy-washy' thing, but I wouldn't put them down there with Microsoft... They did develop NFS, remember.

But yeah, I root for RedHat... and IBM... and HP... and now Novell.

However, I must admit, Sun's ZFS sounds awesome.

Java is my second favorite language. C# is my third. Believe me, I am definetely an accomplice to these evil empires, I just like remarking on what they do wrong.

That shows that you haven't recently tried to find it on their website!!!! I ended up finding the SDK only through the most un-obvious, roundabout ways...while I kept on getting directed to their products which you had to pay for...enough to make me almost hate Sun...

You know what would be totally awesome and twisted? If Sun was a secret division of Microsoft! It would explain so much!!
