It would be cool to have a wireless internet connection (satelite maybe) for virtual online extended memory, Ticalc.org on our calculators, etc.

i voted for touch-screen, with a touch screen, you could double the screen size, and half the calc size at the same time by getting rid of most of the buttons. Though i do say that it would make programming....interesting to say the least. I think that would be the end of assemble programs, you would almost have to go to something object oriented so now you need bunch more mem and processor power. But then there is no reason not to add colour too. But now it has everything that a pda has...except windows. So i guess i just want good math software for a pda. Will vti work on windows ce?

That's an interesting thought. That would be cool for some stuff... but then, if you did want to program, you could use the TI-keyboard. Though, it does sound like it's turning into a PDA for math :)

I personally think it would make more sense to add an SD port. That would effectively allow additional memory, a camera, Bluetooth (or something simmilar), sound emulators, projector adapters, etc. to be added really quickly. Besides, the V200 PLT has a color screen, and that didn't really do much for it.

The V400 has a color screen and BTW it was a fake picture and AFJ.

Sounds like my story. Get a hand-me-down TI-82. A program kills the ROM(one heck of a crash). Then I needed a calc for school so I got a TI-83+. Then I sell that to get an 89. Later I buy a TI-83+SE from a friend. :) I get the best of both worlds. (I also received a 92 from a teacher) Now all I need is a 86 (although it is semi-retarded - it is missing a couple of nice features) and V200 (or 92+ I'd be happy with either one). I have one large calculator family (include my little brother's 83 and you have a lot of TIs).

I think that any of the improvements will work. All I care about is having Flash (calcs loose a lot without it) and the feature of being able to run programs from the Flash memory without unarchiving it (like on the 83).

Why not to but a 83+SE? Ummm.. Because you already have a 83+. Don't get the SE, get an 86 or 89 or V200.

I definantly agree. The 89 (the 92 included) series leaves all the other calcs their its dust. The calc will do anything you want it to (including gray-scale games). Just get over the initial shock of differnce. If you stay with the calc it can do great things for you.

Because it is really stupid. Of course anyone would want everything you can get. Here you have to pick one thing you really, really want. It is not always you have the choice of everything...

I think the one that keeps it from turning into the PDA the most is the megabytes of memory. The others seem to fuse it with other machines (but it's still cool).

I agree, more memory would be a definite plus. All the others could be add-ons (If a more advanced link port was used, of course). And, with the price (And size) of memory chips, they could easily pack more room into their calcs.

Henrik, you and I must think alike. I was about to post something similar until I scrolled down and read yours. An "all of the above" choice totally defeats the purpose of a survey where you are presented with choices that are all agreeable. Almost everyone would pick it to take the easy way out.

That's why I voted for color screen instead.

What happened to the 'calculator' part?? Modern American companies seem to be obsessed with shoving everything into one box, often at the expense of quality. I'd rather have a calculator that's a good calculator, a cell phone that's a good cell phone, and a pda that's a good pda. Not a combo-gizmo that's a crappy calulator integrated into a crappy cell phone that's part of an even crappier pda.

I wouldn't mind having my calculator being able to do that stuff.

But there is no reason why a TI calc can't be good at all of those thigs in one unit, after all, a big company like TI has the interests of the customer as there top priority. [*suspicious sideways glance*]

I think TI could do it, but would they want to? They haven't been working much lately, it seems. For the most recent new model, they just changed the colors and augmented "Explorer" to the name. It's still the same. The last time they made a new calculator was back with the v200, and now, that's been a while. Of course, if it's been a while, that might mean that they could start working on a new model soon....

You're right, but it would still be nice to have more processing power and memory. Many real calculator functions, such as the equation solver and 3d graphing, run EXTREMELY slowly. It would also be nice to have room to store more programs, most of which enhance the calculator's math functionality. What I'm saying is that it's very possible to be using the calculator as a calculator, but still need more memory, processing power, etc.

Here's another vote for the 'make a damn good calc rather than another crappy all in one box' idea. I agree with the increased memory idea, but I voted for colour, not because of the voyage 400 thing but because if done right colour could make graphs (especially multiple graphs on one screen) much easier to read.

You could use grayscale for that, or you could have the graph lines different widths.

That would be okay but you lose visual accuracy when the lines are too thick and distinguishing color can be much easier than the limit of 4 levels of gray. The calculators would be better if they had color, higher screen res, and SD or CF slot which is kind of better than just more memory inside. Of cource the latter depends on the interface implementatoin.

Just make a big color screen. That way they will have to add more RAM, Archive or CF card slot, and a faster proc.

Where's the "Better resolution screen" option? That might help with graphing too...

I think that a colour screen would have to imply better resolution.
