Sam Heald Updates
Posted by Eric on 28 June 2001, 07:27 GMT

Now that we've gotten Mr. Nussbaumer's updates out of the way, let's move on to those of another esteemed programmer, Sam Heald. Sam has recently released a bunch of updates to his popular programs. To start with, he's released Super Mario v1.1 for the TI-82, TI-83, and TI-83+. The new version includes a couple of bugfixes as well as support for archived levels. He's also released Plain Jump v1.2 for the TI-83 and TI-83+. This particular bundle of joy now also includes support for archived levels. Finally, we have Orzunoid v7.2 for the TI-83 and TI-83+.

Update (Eric): Sam has now released Super Mario v1.2, which includes a fix for a bug in the level editor.

Until ticalc.org updates its archives, you can find Super Mario v1.2 at the Void Productions website (http://void.calc.org). The new version is only for ION and fixes a problem with the level editor that caused crashing for some people (the 82 version is fine).

Preferably something 100% compatible with yas. He said he would not port to the 86 because it already has to perfectly good versions for it, sadly the one lacks endings and stars, the other lacks fireballs.
o O (God today sucks, :( )

Finally, someone else feels the way I do about porting to the TI-85. I have been informed that it can be done using Rigel, so if any TI-86 programmers read this, 85 ports would be greatly appreciated

Version 2.0 of my Mario clone will be available for the 82, 83, 83+, 85, and the 86. Should be out in 2-3 weeks, I think. Give or take a week ;)

Sam, sometimes it's hard to distinguish the graphics (Mario, enemies, etc.) on black backgrounds. Have you thought about implimenting greyscale graphics like in the new Subhunt project? Lemmingz for the 83(+) used greyscale in the background that ran quite smoothly on my 83+. I'm not complaining though. It's a great clone of a great game, and it's about time that a good version came along. I look forward to seeing even more of your great games out there.

Idea- you should make a tutorial for Mario Editor because it takes some getting used to

Question- how can you place the fish enemy (not the one that goes up a down)?

are the underwater levels avalable?

when are you gonna come out with 2.0, im a bit excited about that

I have a question (to Sam Heald):
When the levels are archived, are they unarchived in order to be run, and then later rearchived, or are they copied into the RAM and later deleted?
Hopefully the latter is true.
