I think that there are coming much better games than two years ago. e.g.: Look at the RPG's two year ago and than at Shadow of Narkéman. And the Super Mario is also great, don't you agree?

i think it is more of the fact that i was in high school two years ago. It was fun to play games in class when the teachers did not know what we were doing. I just happened to visit this site out of curiosity of what was going in the calculator world...

I wasn't around two years ago - literally, I just can't remember living before my 17th birthday - but looking at the games I've seen There can only be one true answer - some are and some aren't.

The first games are original and we'll always remember them as they were great when they came out, but the new games can be just as good or a bit better but they're nothing new so lets forget about them.
How about a more productive survey like 'Top 100 games for each calc' then ticalc can add a nice new section where people can go to try these games out - if the date of creation is given with each game we can soon see wether people prefer today's or yesterday's games.

I wasn't around two years ago- I was born yesterday. What type of a silly question is that?

I think they are better, on the whole, even if there aren't as many new ones now as there used to be.

*BUT*

They could be a whole heck of a lot better, if you ask me. We really do need some new concepts, and maybe a *good* 3D engine or two... =) Can anyone say DooM? (or ROTT, etc...)

(PS: yes, I know the technical problems with making good 3D, but with the knowhow we have around here, why not dream a little? I just wish TI would make the screens at 2x the resolution and give the little buggers 68040 processors =P )

this form isn't working so I can't vote, but I think that good games come in waves. BomberMaze 89 final versioned 3 or 4 months ago, and ZS is coming soon, but we're just experiencing a lull with a bunch of programs in development and they'll all end up coming out right in a row. it'll be like zs, then xeontech, then a translated version of HalfLife, etc. . . .you'll have so many great games you won't be able to play them all at once.

Any chance of an emulater for ti-89? then really only one program would need to be written to make lots of games!

As I was reading through the letters in here, I found several refrenses to smq. I quickly rememberd the game and (re)downloaded it to my calc. I have had it before, and it worked fine. Now the grayscale doesnt work. Does anyone know what could cause this? Since last using I downloaded 2.05, is that the cause? I appreciate any help anyone can provide and apoligize to everyone for getting this conversation off subject (although its already happend a couple of times LOL)

Try Universal OS!

And if that doesn't help, get Space Monkey Quest. (latest version of SMQ)

Yeah, Flavien Racine (I hope I didn't butcher that name:) has some good games, as well as Tom. TiPang and BallRace3D are awesome (by Flavine Racine), and François Leiber's Othello (in ASM) is a really good game, too. And then you have Tom's games! There are some really good games out there, and a lot of them have to do with the continuing knowledge of how to use grayscale (much of which comes from Julien and Tom), as well as some other programmers out there who don't make games (like Samual Stearly), but have good knowledge of the calculator and contribute it when other people want to make games and need to know something that they don't. Yes, there are many good games out there for the 89, but another prog that I use a lot is the ebook reader (I am in the middle of The Two Towers). OK, there are some crappy basic games out there wasing space, and the number of those has increased, but they don't really matter.

How could they be worse? We STILL have all the old games, and new ones are coming out that are sometimes worse, sometimes the same, and sometimes better. So, we have all the old ones, PLUS the good new ones. Sounds better to me.

Do you remember daedalus for the Ti85. It was a first person shooter similar to Wolfenstine(the origonal). This was the best calculator game ever. I remember playing this game freshamn year in high school while everyone else played the text based drug dealer.
