Yeah, I do think calcular games are as good as they were two years ago and if not better. I have a 92 and 89 and over the years games have been updated and good new ones are coming out too (except for smq- space monkey quest- it used to be better when it was super mario quest)
By the way, does anyone know were I can get a copy of that hard to find TiCalc.org CD. Ever since it was removed from stores for having "inappropriate" content I have been trying to find one but it seems that all the stores have already took them off the shelf.

I don't think that the games are lower quality, I just think it's all a thing of relativity (in a sense). I have been involved and watching the TI scene for a long time now. I even vaguely remember the old-school format of ticalc.org. From what I've seen, when games like Mario Quest were realeased, it was a big deal because it involved new concepts and player ability. Not enough games now have the special something to it that make them more fun and addicting. It just seems like not enough games have a revolutionary new part to them anymore.

Also, my thoughts to a post above: I think that the calculator scene IS dying out. I think that has to do with the Palm Pilots and other sorts of gadgets one can by. Some kid in 8th grade with a TI-81 doesn't get the same oooohs and aaaahs as they did before. I know, I had an 81 in 8th grade. Now you have 6th graders with cell phones. Why would a calculator be a big thing when you can get on the internet from the middle of nowhere with a device just as small? Just my thoughts.

Dan

reason games are getting worse:
SAME REASON CONSOLE GAMES THESE DAYS JUST SUCK!
most 'simple' games have already been made (2 years ago) - so in order to make something different, you have to make the games more and more complex.. the more complex the less addicting (usually).. and the less anyone wants to learn how to play it.. and the less there is actually one way to play it. example - Zelda: a link to the past is the best zelda game EVER it is somewhat 2D (just cliffs and stuff).. but the actual play of the game is 2D.. then they come out with all of this ocarina of time 3D crap.. it takes a lot more time, and is much more frustrating to play it.. so people don't like it as much..

I have to agree with you on this subject. It is frustrating playing any 3D adventure/rpg game. It gets confusing, its always dark, and you just give up on them. But First person sooting games have only gotten better. Like compare the old 'Wolfensteine 3d' to lets say 'Quake 3 arena'! Now theres no comparesion there. 'Quake 3 Arena' obviously has better graphics, better sound, better game play, better everything!

In conclusion,
There are some games that should not be messed around with, such as, Mario quest, Zelda, etc., But There are Games that can only get better such as Quake.

P.S. Quake 3 arena is the best game ever made!

Even so, nothing beats mashing some Nazis on the highest difficultylevel on W3D when you are angry.
Oh, and that sweet minigun sound.. :)

But Q3A bots suck ass! Unreal Tournament has the best bots. And Urban Terror is the best mod for Q3A (the bots still suck)!

I am sorry, but you are retarded my friend. The two newest Zeldas are THE greatest rpg's of all time unquestionably. You people are all extreme stupid dorks. You get upset over the dumbest things ever. Some of you get offended for the msot ridiculous reaosns. For example, take the morons who got pissed off at Pascal, they were completely wrong ion attacking him and were so offended by his criticism of a calculator program, that they didn't even write. Red Dog got extremly pissed off because pascal made fun of a program he liked. You guys all need to chill out. Everyone has there own opinion on different tytpes of games and programs and that doesn't mean they're wrong. Remember: even though you may forget this from time to time, TI calculators are not the center of the world. Sorry to burst your bubble but there not important at all.

BTW, i doing this "<sarcasm>.......</sarcasm>" is THE most dork thing in the entire world. I would be itnerested to see what your non-calculator obsessed friends (if you have any at all) would think of it.

Ps. Just a voice of reason.

I agree with Massocist. Everyone should be able to have their own opinion, so here is mine:
MirageOS sucks.

I say this because when I was a stupid moron who could only do BASIC programming, MirageOS would turn my calc off and it wouldnt turn back on. Also, when I had MirageOS on my 83+ SE calculator, the whole calculator would be much slower. I think it is crappy.

and that <sarcasm>.....</sarcasm> stuff IS pretty gay (no offense)

also mirage os would delete my dumb basic games.

If anyone knows where I can find a good TI-83 Plus(SE) ASM tutorial, PLEASE E-MAIL ME. I haven't found any good 83+ ones (even though i've made some 'cool' games in ASM) =)

I think that the games were better two years ago because there weren't many good games for the calculators... Now that there are some good games, the new ones that come out looks bad. (no offense) Anyway, I am not making any programmers look bad but I hate it when I see like three zeldas at like version 0.03. Many of the games are still incomplete and they REMAIN incomplete.

The reason so many Zeldas, and other ambitious projects, remain incomplete is because they are just that, ambitious. I think there's a good line here at ticalc between the "hardcore programmers" and the gamers. The people making these games are just doing it for the fun of it, and in their spare time. Most of them are in the upper high-school/college level in schooling, and spare time can be harder and harder to come by.

I programmed the 89 BASIC version of Zelda and always had the full intention of finishing it, but my free time just gets less and less. Just keep that in mind :-)

I remember when there was never another beta or update to that zelda. i checked the website everyday for like a year. i downloaded like 10 different zeldas searching for the update. i finally gave up all hope on a zelda ever being made.
