where did you learn that -2(e^(i*pi))=2?

that's amazing.. my trig teacher never taught us where they arrived at the value for e... i guess it must have something to do with pi then... (right?)

By using Taylor series, you can prove that e^(x*i)=cos x + i*sin x, so cos(pi)+i(sin(pi)) = -1

You know, if you put the expression 2(e^(i*pi)) into a TI-83, it evalutes as 2... e^(i * pi) evaluates as -1...

This reminds me of the annoying bug in the TI-83(+) where if you are in degree mode it gives you the wrong answer in polar mode.

For instance, according to my calculator:
e^(180°i) = 1e^(-126.7596876i) (wrong)
but...
e^(pi*i) = 1e^(180°i) (correct)

If you are in radian mode:
e^(180°i) = 1e^(3.141592654i) (correct)

The workaround is to be in radian mode while doing the calculations. If you want your answer in degrees, you have to change the mode to Degree and hit ANS.

Somebody who knows how to get the 3D-graf from the ticalc logo?

This is the closest I was able to find:

z = cos(x^2+y^2)
But it doesn't have the spike as is, try adding it to something like: z = 1/(x^2 + y^2)
or something, it will give you a spike :o) without altering the rest too much I think.

But I could be wrong... I'm just quessing.
