Don't be so ignorant on your blessing; the 86 is the best TI that's allowed on tests the 89 is not (ACT, some college courses don't allow the 89, etc.). What other calculator allows you to play games written for three different calculators (82/83/85) plus has a huge collection of great games itself?

Ok the only calc not allowed on those tests is the 92 and 92+ the 89 is allowed on all standardized tests.

Actually no. Origionally most test only banned querty keypads (thus 92(+)) But now, many have begun to add special provisions for the 89 and a (Very small) few have begun to bann the more advanced HPs as well. Bad news for those of us who carry our brains in our pocket.

For the AP tests and Standarized tests, now in some states don't allow you to use your own calculator, or make you erase your memory. Most kids have a fake memory clear on thier calculator to get around this.

Fake memory clear RULES. I've used it so many times and the teachers never suspected anything. HAH!

AU3 is even more handy!
MicroLITH Account Info

My 89 runs AMS 1.05 and AU3. One "feature" of this is I can do a memory clear, and go into the mem display, and it'll appear empty. A few seconds after entering it, dialogs will flicker by too fast to be noticed, reinstating everything, while appearing to be totally empty :)

If nothing else with AU3 I can just delete everything and undelete it later!

But still doesn't let me use my 89 on the ACT. Not that I need it though, get an 83 and you're fine. Now all I need is to refresh on geometry and i'll make far higher on the math(got a 21, DOH!)

Make that about 13+? In my school, Zshell is still worshoped as the dead god of wasting time in class! Before someone got a graphlink 4 years ago, we all had to play crappy (even by basic standards) basic games. There were about 5 tictactoe games, 13 text rpgs (actually, they were fun, until MyRPGXIII came out, and no one played it), and then The Amazing Adventures of Pi,(i made the 83 version) Then came Zshell, and screw this, we played REAL games!

There are MUCH better shells for the 85. Get one of them if you have an 85.(I have an 86). Don't waste your time with zshell.

ZShell is known as the 1st shell to allow ASM programming on a TI graphing calculator. It and it's author should be honored as the stepping stone to all other shells, programs, and TI frenzy. IT's obviously not the best shell because it is the 1st shell ever created.

WHAT?!?!?!?!?!? How could you say that? ZShell started a whole revolution. Where do you think the idea for Fargo I/II came from? Oshell or any of the other asm shells for the 82? Once the asm barrier was broken, then everything changed. Don't go dissin' ZShell! I may not be the best, but there is somethign to be said for it starting a revolution.
