Looks like the Majority of the programmers are in Windows. But I guess its harder for the z80 programmers to program in BSD/Liunx than the 68k Programmers.

Yeah, I do just about everything in Linux except calc programming. I'm switching over completely as soon as someone releases a good assembler that runs in Linux (although TASM might work with WINE...).

I am trying to do something about it. I wrote an assembler (zasm), wich is hosted on lpg.ticalc.org, but I would like some comments about it. (bugs, compatibility problems, ...)

Great! In that case, maybe I'll try creating an Assembly Studio-like frontend in GTK or something...

ITS - Debian - Gentoo - System V - BSD - DOS - CP/M - the list goes on.

Like anyone uses CP/M...

BeOS, NeXTSTEP, Wacky Fun Random Numbar Generator OS, ProDOS, OS/9, & HURD (is it an OS yet?), to name a few more.

Don't forget about AmigaOS. It still has a niche of followers.

Seriously? Have they really kept up to date since the 70's?

BTW, I don't think Hurd is really an OS, just a kernel. Now if someone packaged it with bash, init, coreutils, and binutils, it could be an OS.

If you are referring to the AmigaOS, then the answer is yes.

AmigaOS 4.0 was released in 2005.

HURD is the kernel of the GNU system. Properly, he would have said GNU.

I try as much as possible to use Mac OS X. Otherwise I use Windows.

Same here, for the most part I use Mac OS X. Not macos because that implies Mac OS 9

Do not over analyze the poll entries. MacOS simply implies any version of the Mac OS. This includes the classic OSs as well as OS X.

This is the same implication as "Windows". Which implies 3.1, 95, 98, XP, etc... etc...

Currently, I use Windows XP. But, I hope to have a Mac again soon.

I think it is great to be fluent in multiple OSes.

BTW: Someone was successful at booting Windows XP on an Intel Mac. (http://onmac.net)

Well if I was in your shoes I'd have voted for the platform I develop programs on most of the time.
