Thanks for your replys. I have a test comming up and i was doing the chapter review and happened to look at the key terms. It's in my Geometry book chapter 10 section 1 and my teacher never said anything about it. She tells us to take notes that she provides and we have to fill in the blanks. It was the last part of the notes and we didn't even dicuss it at all. It makes me mad!

Never heard of it. My math teachers must have forgotten to teach it. ;-)

It's the least known/taught "magic" number. To those who know about it, it is one of the most fascinating numbers, but for some reason no one ever really talks about it. It doesn't really have a lot of regular practical usage I guess, the way pi and e do. It's more of just a thing of beauty than one of utility.

I believe a while back Scientific American did a whole big cover article on phi. That's the most publicity I've ever seen it get.

Any significance to 00101101, or was it just random?

They say if you look for a number you will find it everywhere...it works for 42 (for example, the first jersey ever hung from the rafters of the colleseum in Phoenix from the Phoenix Suns was #42, a useless bit of trivia), but I cannot seem to find Graham's number anywhere except on the Internet. :)
