I want a red faceplate...or at least I would want one if I had an 84+/SE...

nah. the buttons would look terrible. I say make a jet black case with darkish red buttons. Black text on the buttons, no text printed on the calc face itself.

That would eliminate all the extra functions with the [2nd] and [Alpha] keys, as well as the diamond and shift keys for the TI-89 titanium...unless you memorized the key layout...

I can use my TI-89 in the dark.

I almost can. But more often than not I try to type in something like "expand((xy^2+2x)(z+y))" without looking and get some horribly garbled message like "limit()xy/.+2=)(z+(T"...

I did 60wpm on my TI-89 ;-) That's faster than most of my friends on the computer :-D

I can too. I can type pretty well on mine when I can't see at all. I like making text files for fun and trying to write a long, elaborate message on there to one of my friends. When I'm done, I take it out, get the file, and send it to them. I'm not too bad at it, actually.

I can usually type the alphabetic characters without looking. I have to be able to see the screen to make sure I typed them right, though, because my TI-89's alpha key is picky and if I don't press on it the right way it doesn't work and I get a bunch of numbers and math symbols instead.

Ahh, I hate it when my text comes out like

29*1+7xy-),5/.t8(,|7=
(not a secret message :))

I was going to write some program where you could just copy the garbled text and have it output the real text, but I never did it because I was lazy. But, it WOULD be easy to do.

120d! I should impress all my friends by telling them that I can speak in a special encrypted code called ROT-26.

Wow, does that mean I've been around longer than such a prominent regular like n2k?

Although to be fair once I graduated high school and gameboys were no longer a "confiscate on sight" item, most of my calc gaming enthusiasm faded in favor of Dr. Mario via a NES emulator for my GBA.

Speaking of which, I think if I were in charge of making mods for these calcs, I wouldn't worry about colored faceplates until a calc was available that folded in the middle for easier pocket storage, and was backlit.I can't count the number of times I've been sitting in a movie theater, and suddenly felt the need to integrate something.

Same here (about the backlights). I really need to get around to trying to install some in my calcs...

I usually get the urge to play a game when I'm waiting for the movie to start and bored, but then I remember that my calc doesn't have a backlight. :-)

Hmm, to be politcally correct he better be referring to the Pink Faceplate. With that said, when will they release colored link cables!!! Or battery covers!
Or for something a little more usefull:
- Back Lighting
- CPU Overclocking (Software)
- Actual fast CPUs. Ie: 50MHz Zilog
Sure CAS calcs are great for exact answers but when it comes to graphing I prefer to use an 83+SE. (hense Graphing Calculators)
The Gimmicky fad is just insulting to calculator users.

Yeah red, that would look sweet. or possibly green. But I just can't stop thinking that maybe TI was trying to go conservative. But it just can't be with a color like orange.

HEY TI LOOK AT THESE COLORS:
RED
GREEN
PURPLE (hey morgan said that 50% of people that have graphing calcs are female so why not?)

Actually, the girls who have graphing calculators at my school like green. So make a green faceplate so that TI will make more money and charge less for the actual calculators.

It's where you're aware of social cues and act on them, including talking to people at the appropriate times and being inconspicuous in the right ways.

It would seem to be where you ask all the girls at your school who use graphing calculators what their favorite color is.
