being the statistics addict that I am...I have decided that these polls have a serious non-response problem. According to statistical research, highly optional polls like these often only have a response when someone has a strong opinion about the subject...mainly negative or controversial (not for this poll, but the previous one on Millennium being 2001...please don't get into that argument here b/c it is so freakin old) Anyway, as you can see here....those people who vote are usually the ones who come most often and like reading message boards and stuff...people who can't find anything usually don't return and they can't very well vote on their first visit to the main page. Just my statistically inclined opinion :)

That makes complete sence.

Dude I understand where you're coming from. If people could not find what they wanted, they would definitally not take the time to register a ticalc name, so they wouldn't even be able to vote on these surveys. Good point!

Go Warriors!

I really like the fact that the user can easily see how many times the program has been downloaded. It would be even better if anyone who wanted to could leave a little comment about the program (not a full review).

You have some good ideas, but you have to keep in mind that we have a rapidly expanding archive of well over 9,000 files (9,238 by last count). It would be near impossible for only nine people (best case) to make sure people wouldn't spam the thing with stupid flames and advertisments.

Basically, we would if we could but we can't. :(

I guess maybe a simple rating system might work better (like "stars").

They should have a user-rating for each program, where people can vote for what they think a game's rating should be. Personally, I think that a score out of 100 would be good, and for comparison, there should also be the staff's rating for the game next to the user's rating.

I personally like Slashdot's moderation system... you could cut your mod. staff down to maybe 2, and you'd be set.

I love TI, BTW. Every day, I visit TICalc, Dim-TI, then TI-Files. I depend on TICalc for file updates, the other two I use for news.

I find the ti-89 ASM programs difficult to work with. It is hard to tell the ROM versions apart.

This site is one of the best structured sites on the web! I used to go to another popular calc site, no names mentioned, but the information overload and endless feedback pages drowned me. The only negative thing I have to say about ticalc.org is that the program archive list on the homepage is a little too long.

Good job!

I'm sorry if this is off topic, but something has really been buggung me lately. I want to know if girls (females) go to this site too. I've looked at about a million member descriptions and I haven't come across one name that even has the slightest sounding of a girls name. Are there any girls that are part of the Ticalc team? I really want to know this. Don't get me wrong, I like girls (hell yeah!!!). Half of my friends are girls (friends that are girls NOT girlfriends). Are there any members that are girls out there? If there are, respond to this post (if it isn't deleted).

P.S.--
DON"T DELETE THIS MESSAGE!!! PLEASE!!!

Yeah (sigh). You hardly ever see female geeks. Nonetheless, I'm confident that I'll find at least one girl that has an account here. If you're a girl, PLEASE RESPOND TO THIS!!!

I am a female math nerd...and yes, I admit that we are quite in the minority. Why? I don't know...something has been established in society from the beginning that girls "do not belong in mathematics". I do NOT believe this statement...and we are progressing from this really ancient idea. I go to math competitions frequently, and the ranking students are predominantly male. I've been the only girl on my division team for years, and I've gotten used to it. By the way, I'm very integral to the math peeps at my school not only for my individual performance...but more importantly...as the carrier of new phoenix!! (which I found very easily on this website :-) hehe...Anna

There have been a few female authors of some small BASIC games... nothing major though.
And I've seen one or two girls post to the comment boards. A girl (Tahben) also hangs out in #ti :)

You know, the next survey poll should be like,"What gender are the usual visitors?" or something like that. Then, you should let the users choose between,"Male","Female", or,"Other". You'll probably be suprised how many people will choose "Other". There are a LOT of sick individuals out there.

One of the new sites posted at ticalc.org that was recently in the news had a pole like that...I think it was Otaku. Anyway, the options were boy, girl, and don't know - and I think don't know had the majority. Next was probably girls, and finally boys. Hehe, that doesn't mean they're sick, just that they have a little sense of humor.
