Wow, this summer it'll be more like > 8 hours *per day*, but during school I hardly have time for 2 per week.

I RARELY can get in >8 per day. Five is a lot for me for one day, though I've done it. It really wipes you out, especially if you're actually programming the whole time, I mean, not taking breaks constantly, or whatever.
Usually, I can't get the computer for more than six hours a day.

I spend my life programming. You'd think my friends and I have already mastered BASIC, with all the programming we do. We have all created a nice impractical memory hog called MATHSTUF. It has bunch of functions and stuff, and extremely accurate.

Wow! Not one person programs 9 hours a week but 56 people chose 10+ hours!! That's kinda messed up there.....

What's more messed up is how many people chose 0 hours.

I don't know. Some people may be a little too busy for programming. Hell, I've been too busy to even come here recently.
Have been doing some assembler.
For the 16F84 PIC.

Which now means I can get into programming for the good old 82.

Oh, by the way. Hi everybody.

I think TI oughta make a TI-80/TI-81 Explorer! And we'll see how many buy the final product.....

Yeah, maybe the poll should have gone all the way up to 20 hours. That would probably show what's going on here. Apparently the curve goes up after 10 hours, but since the highest option only goes up to 10(+) hours, the curve gets truncated.

Either that or somebody screwed up the poll results somehow. :-)

I wonder how many people would have chosen *more* than 24 hours of programming in a day? ;-)

I would have said 40 hours per week, but that's not quite 25 or 26 per day.

40+ hours a week. Don't intend to be mean but you must surely spend a lot of time away from socialising.
8 hours sleep.
6 hours in lessons at school.
2 hours travelling to and from school
2 hours eating a day.
6 hours programming.
0 hours the rest.

Okay I ignore weekends not having school but I assume that you work hard and do plenty of homework - you are after all dedicated to maths and programming. So the homework and weekends cancel out.

Sort of understood. I'll break it down some:

4 hours per week in class for CIS 221
6-7 hours per week on CIS 221 programming assignment
http://www.cis.ohio-state.edu/~weide/ sce/now/221/index.html

6 hours per week in class for ENGR H193
3-9 hours per _day_ out of class for ENGR H193
http://feh.eng.ohio-state.edu/ competition.htm

Then I spend 2-3 hours per week teaching myself something in Perl or C--today I taught myself to implement linked lists in C. After the coming Wednesday I'm back to more sane hours.

Fair's fair.
Have been there before. On my course the amount of self-study recommended is longer than the hours in the week. And the amount of timetabled lectures is hardly forgiving.
Still who sticks to these guidelines, have done well enough so fair.

Well, for engineering I don't really have a choice--I'm in a group of four, and I'm the only programmer for our robot. Now that the robot is built, I'm the only one that can really do anything with it.

Let me guess. Your code doesn't work it is all your fault. The robot does work it is everyone else hard work.
The way of life.

Doing an engineering degree. One that no one has yet completed. Quite fun really. there's only six people in my year. Hell there are more words in the title then there are people in my year.
