Using your calculator in the dark is not the point.  In alaska in the
winter time its real hard to see what you are doing on the screen from the
shadows of the plastic.  If we needed to use our calcs in the dark, we
would need key lights too since you wouldn't be able to see the keys (if
you didn't know your calc to well...

You can see the keys in limited darkness, but the screen is real hard to see...
