Integrated Desktop Released
Posted by Michael on 26 April 2003, 21:42 GMT

Olivier Armand has released Integrated Desktop for the 89, 92+, and Voyage 200. This piece of eye candy will add your programs as icons to the Apps Desktop that is in AMS versions 2.07 and 2.08. It has built-in icons for popular programs, but you can also create your own.

Update (Michael): A new version has been released, with a bug fix. Download it to prevent crashes.

Alright, what gives? How in the world does he have "SMQ" on a hardware 2.00 calc? I have tried every known shell that has the libraries, but have not been able to get it to start. I always end up with an error.

And to further the mystery, he has kerby. You cannot have doors on a HW2. The HW2 patch will not work on 2.08, which means that he has to use h220xtsr to have doors (which I cannot get to work for me). Yet kerby will not work properly with the h220xtsr installed. Please tell me how this configuration of games is possible.

It is possible. You need:
* PreOs (http://www.timetoteam.fr.st)
* the latest version (AMS 2 compatible) of SMQ (http://www.ticalc.org/ archives/files/fileinfo/83/8362.html)
* preferably the executable patched to fix a key reading problem on HW2 (smq_hw2.89z/9xz in http://www.ticalc.org/ archives/files/fileinfo/205/20519.html).

And by the way, I think you are mixing up HW2 and AMS 2.

Thanks.

I had no clue how to do that.

Well, now that we're talking about this, I've been wondering for a long time, is it possible to get Street Fighter 2 for the TI-89 to run on AMS 2.05 HW2? I've tried everything imaginable and nothing worked :( I think it only works for HW1 doors.

I read the comments in sequential order, I couldn't have read that one before making that comment, since that was the first time I read through them.

Another question: why the kernel section of the archives are still called 'doorsos'? that's stupid, since people seeking a kernel actually take doorsos even if this one is old and doesn't work on recent AMS?
(don't kill me before I get some other opinion than yours Kevin please :D).
It should be renammed to 'Kernel'...

Why isn(t PreOs in the archives? Ask "Why isn't CF in the archives" too then ;)

I asked Joey a while back about getting rid of those folders. I now know that they should be there, but that DoorsOS is not the correct name for them. I'll see what we can do.

Well, that would be nice and should (perhaps?) reduce the number of new ti-users using doorsos and telling their games don't worf :)

But changing the name would be inconsistent with what is done for the other calculators. DoorsOS was the kernel which started the format, so programs designed for that format are in the "DoorsOS" folder, even though DoorsOS is old and there are plenty of other kernels which can run them. The same way as programs designed for ZShell are in the "ZShell" folder, even though ZShell is old and there are plenty of other shells which can run them.

Nevermind it's inconsistant: it is USEFULL and a GOOD SOLUTION to prevent new users from crashing their calc :)

You and me both brother, you and me both. I complain about it all the time when I talk to people. Maybe that is why I have no friends.....

Up to date....

They could keep the nae "Doors", and in parenthesies (?) the name of the current up to date shell. It would please everyone, and, well, that is it.

Perhaps, but don't mistake between 'shell' and 'kernel'
An information note could be a solution, but it would have to bee up to date too :)
But my very opinion is that keeping 'doorsos' name would just be a little confusing.

Two Questions:
Are you useing a 92/92+ for that screen shot or a V200?
If it is a V200, How did you get PreOS to run on it?

A Voyage 200. The latest version of PreOS works perfectly on V200.

Really!? I think I have the newest version of PreOS but it always crashed on the V200. BTW is the V200 classified as HW2 and therefore needs h220xtsr or another patch?

Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: The Plot Thickens

It needs h220xTSR, but PreOs will install it automatically (unless you have an outdated version which required you to use special -Hw2Tsr executables; they are now default).

You are using PreOS v0.64 with AMS 2.07 or 2.08.

I have a HW2 calc and I've played SMQ on it many times with AMS 2.05 and I have not had any problem. I've not tested it on AMS 2.08.
