So how exactly is this news? Gran Tourismo has been out for ages... It's been a great game since about version 0.2. This news post makes it look like its something new and spectacular.

We had a few problems with the game and we realize that it was added a while ago. I am not going to say what the probelms were, so don't ask.

Just think of it like this, it is the first time v0.56 as been released.

I think they meant something about it being inappropriate or something... but then they wouldn't have uploaded it... oh I don't know :)

Oh... I read through the history list of the game and found the "problem" Oh well :(

Hey, on VTI, it's impossible, VTI doesn't handle the time correctly, so it's impossible to get your license :( I NEED MY REAL 98-IT TO PLAY IT! AARRRGGGGG!!!

Didn't they alerady have a news item for this game before? I vaguely remember seeing it and thinking, "this game has been out a while, why now?"

Great game! I've downloaded it to my TI-92 Plus and forsee myself playing it during Electronics class. =)

Completely off topic, anyone else here remember opensource.calc.org? I'm trying to find a copy of the site, but as close as I can get is with archive.org, but that didn't follow the src.php?bla links. =(

Looks really neat! now all we need are a bunch of porters to port every single game in the 89 list to the 83p list!

(of course, it'd take too much work, so i doubt anyone will take up that challenge)

That'll probably be accomplished in a few short centuries. :)
All these new games are making me want to get an 89 ... trying ... to ... stick ... to ... 86. Actually, I'd have to give a bit of justification to my parents as to why I would want an 89, especially since my 86 is working perfectly (and the games excuse won't work).

This update was to fix a bug in the previous version, so it should be bugless.

I just looked at the history list... that's what happened. Did they complain about it, or did he just feel it would be better not to use the copyrighted name? What about tetris and all those other clones?

He might have, or maybe he did it just to be on the safe side. I remember a while back that Kirk Meyer was forced by Parker Brothers to stop development of his Monopoly game because of trademark infringement or something.

yes you could make a monopoly game or any other copyrighted game you want. All you have to do is pay the owner royalties. Which means that you have to charge for the game to make up for it.
