TI Connect v1.2.1 and 73 Explorer
Posted by Michael on 6 March 2003, 01:07 GMT

TI Connect v1.2.1 has been released. The key update is that TI-GRAPH LINK now works with the black serial cable on Windows XP and 2000, through the use of a service.

Also, the TI-73 Explorer now lives. It's just a rename of the TI-73, but remember, more letters make it better!

What does the Graph Link software have to do with TI-Connect? Are they not programs that can be used separately, i.e. no interdependancies? At least they are still working over at TI.

He probably did, but then, like the rest of us, he began to just ignore it after posting and, (if he's like me) hits the BACK button as soon it shows the results page.

Yeah, but I just assumed he'd remember after the first 100 times or so.

I wonder if there's a way that ticalc.org could make posts appear faster - but with the high level of posts clogging up their databases, maybe not...

Ticalc DOES do good stuff! Just look over the past few months...

* The archives went down by over 50%
* We're getting lots of new news
* It's all FREE (Thank God)
* It has the best TI-calculator archive on the internet

There's countless other things to add to this list, but I'm cold and my fingers aren't typing right.

It also seems that the pending queue has decreased significantly. How do I know? All of the programs that were the last to be added to the stack have been published at last!

NO! NO, NO, NO, NO, AND AGAIN, I SAY NO!!!!!!!!

This message board system is great... you can see all the messages on one screen, and it even has those cool lines directing each post, so you can see which post is a reply to another... it loads fast, it's HAND MADE (it shows effort), and... I just can't see how ANYBODY would suggest using phpBB over this... it's like suggesting geocities over a registered domain for FREE.

phpBB..... it's slow, so many people use it that it shows absolutely NO effort, it doesn't *fit* in sites, it's SLOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOW, and it doesn't compare to this.

There, had to get that over with :)

Should've gotten a legacy motherboard. I don't use any of my parallel or serial ports, but I like to have them.

The new version of TI Connect includes a little program that runs as a Windows NT service. It allows for more reliable connections using the TI Graph Link software. It doesn't affect TI Connect directly. I suppose they don't want to update the Graph Link software anymore, so they include patches for it with new TI Connect versions.

Graphlink for the 83 Plus is STILL beta. I doubt they will ever get it passed it.

Now, why would they rename the TI-73 without doing anything special to it? That's not really all that great of a business marketing trick ;-)

Didn't you read the description? It's so now the TI-73 can be part of their "popular" Explorer line of calculators!!
Doesn't TI say that every one of their products is part of some popular line of products?

Heheh, you'd think if they're going to change the colors, they'd do something to the ROM to make it better, or something. Oh well, just get an 83+se or 89. :)

Ohh... ticalc should make a poll
"How many people own the TI-73?" (Explorer or just plain)
1) I have more than one!
2) I have one
3) I don't have one
4) What is a TI-73?

It's about time that they released a new version for XP! I've been getting that blue screen error violation thingy, even after uninstallation.

No, I don't mean that blue screen of death from prior windows. This one is different. It always get it at start up. It goes into windows, then it goes to the blue screen but much more info on the screen then "Illegal operation: your computer will erase everything on HD" thing. Right at the bottom it saids "If this is your first time seeing this error... bla bla bla" then when I restart it operates normally till another 10 reboot or so. But it's gone now, thank god...
