ticalc.org Breaks 100,000,000 Requests!
Posted by Nick on 26 February 2000, 05:57 GMT

A scrumptuous bit of ticalc.org trivia for you this fine Saturday morning! Today or yesterday or sometime in recent hours, we broke 100,000,000 (that's 100 million) total page requests at ticalc.org.
A shocking amount of data has been moved on and off of the ticalc.org server in the past few years. We'd like to thank all our users for their continued support of the site that we've spent so much time to build and maintain.
This has truly been a labor of love for us, and we're glad to be keeping it going for all of you folks in the future. For more useless ticalc.org stats, you can head on over to our webstats page.

Yes, but even so... I check this site nearly every day, but that's not the issue. This site is pretty busy.

I think he meant how long until 100 million zipped calc file downloads; not page requests. I think.

I think this is great! I go here at least twice a day. I am sure a lot of other people do also. That probably adds up quickly.

Hello ! GOOD JOB, but why can't we see the counter (as ti-files ?) it can be fun, and we know when we'll pass the 200.000.000 requests !!!!!

Counters are innacurate. We generate our requests by analyzing our web-log files. You can see the web statistics by going into About and choosing Web Server Statistics.

Do you mean web-logs , when a member of Ticalc.org visit the page and log on ? (with a cookie, for example)
Because I visited the page many times before becoming a member , and I think many people visit this page like me , so , the number of visitors would be huge!

Anyway , Ticalc.org ROCKS ! 100.000.000 !!!

weblogs are like a book of all the people that logged onto a site. They can even (I think) be set up to find out where the person got to the site from, how long they were there, what pages they visited, and what computer they're using... Kind of scary, isn't it?

Okay Nick, if a dollar is too much, how about a quarter for every hit? A "nick"el? Some other form of payment? There has to be something we can give you....

Oh, I'm fine with the dollar for every request.
It's just that it'll be *so* burdensome to open up a Swiss bank account to transfer my massive holdings there... :)

OK, that "nick"el joke far crossed the corny line, just make sure it doesn't happen again. :)

If we wanted money, we could have put advertising banners up. It's just not something we're interested in doing.

Hey, I was only kidding. I wasn't trying to imply that ticalc.org wants or needs (but probably deserves) money. In fact, I am _very_ grateful you don't use advertising banners. The only thing I hate more than banners are pop-up ad windows (*shudder*) usually associated with GeoCities (*another shudder*). I could go into a long essay about how my comment was supposed to be read with the tone of the saying "If I had a nickel for every time..." but I of course won't.

If I seem like I'm overreacting, it's just because my keyboard's spacebar doesn't work unless I strike it with great force...don't get a Gateway computer unless you want to have each component gradually fail on you. Gotta go; my monitor's starting to burn out (and I'm really NOT kidding about this)...
