Power-Up with Super Mario 68K
Posted by Michael on 22 June 2007, 22:18 GMT

[Super Mario 68K]The kind of wonderful calculator game that comes along only once every few years has just been released: Super Mario 68K by Lach Asderity.

As the name implies, it is an intricately written Super Mario game for the 89, 92+, and Voyage 200 calculators. With too many features to completely list here, some of the highlights are grayscale, a million and a half types of monsters, three bosses, a plentiful plethora of powerups, hidden areas, the ability to save your game, and most importantly, 70 levels so boredom becomes a thing of the past.

A level editor is also planned in the future. For those of you without a 68k calculator, you can gaze wistfully at the large number of screenshots available at the Super Mario 68K homepage.

Very impressive! This is sure to keep me entertained on a few road trips this summer.

Although the entire thing was incredibly well done, I do have one (hopefully) small request: Up/Down allowing camera scrolling while standing in one place.

I know that crouching uses the down key, but the screen could be adjusted after a short delay of crouching. Hopefully this wouldn't be too complicated...

Plus, if you have an active imagination, you can fill in the sound effects-- you know, "Let's-a go!" when entering a level, "Mam-ma mia!" when you lose a life, and that catchy Super Mario 64 music throughout.

Hello,

This might not be the right place to ask my questions, but since i need all your help, here it goes:

I recently got an 89-Titanium (previously i used a 92-Plus) and i would like to ask what is the correct archive section for the TI-89 Titanium programs?
Is the same as for the old TI-89 or the one for the Voyage-200 (since the Voyage-200 and the TI-89 Titanium have the same hardware and OS)?

Thanks in advance for your help, best regards

TI-89
But you may have to patch the programs with GhostBuster.

That can be needed for some programs to run, yes.

I played through all the levels up to Bowser's lair yesterday. All I can say is...wow. This seems like something from the GameBoy. I remember always wishing that Mario games on the calculator would include pipes that worked (without crashing randomly), but this one has almost everything.

Mr. Z agreed. This has to be the best Mario clone ever on a calc. The grayscale animations are flawless and it appears as if the actual world is coming to life as things fly across the screen and jump and all that good stuff.

Great game Lachprog!

damn, I found my silverlink and installed TI-connect, but DeviceExplorer doesn't find my titanium...
I'm going through so much trouble even though I probably won't touch my 89 after this summer

You're using a Silverlink with an 89Titanium? They come with the Directlinks...

It's just as fun (well, almost) on an emulator, if you want to try it out.

Still, the SilverLink is supposed to work too.

1.) I lost the directlink
2.) the silverlink works, I just had to uninstall the TilP driver and re-install TI-connect
3.) Truly an amazing game! Great graphics, great gameplay, and it hasn't crashed my calculator yet! Only thing I could ask for is a pan-up/pan-down feature because I feel that my constant falling to my utter demise could be easily prevented. <3 <3 <3

Silverlinks will work with 89s. I should know-- my Directlink quit on me about a year ago and I've been using my old Silverlink with no trouble ever since.
