TI-83 Plus OS 1.19
Posted by Michael on 9 February 2006, 03:17 GMT

Due to the incessant clamoring for a news article despite the fact that we still don't know what it changes or fixes, I wish to announce that TI has released version 1.19 of the TI-83 Plus OS. The download page still indicates 1.18 but the actual OS file is 1.19.

This goes for the ti- 84 operating system too.

I called Ti and asked them all that the new operating system does....

They said that all it does is prepare the calc for the app called Test prep.

(It adds the manual calc block by holding the left and right arrow keys and pushing on)

I have developed away against it though.

Left/right/on doesn't work in this version, so any activation of this feature must be througha linkport or something (it can't be activated the same way you can on the 83+)

What is Left/right/on supposed to do in the first place?

It should send. It is a TI-83 plus file. You have to use TI-Connect to send it, not TI-Graphlink. If this is not your problem, it would help if you would state exactly what the problem is.

I forgot to mention... You cannot send anything else to your calculator while sending the OS. You should be prompted by a window saying that this will clear all the memory on your calculator, which means, even if you could send the files, that your files would be deleted.

You can use the graphlink software, how do you think it was done before ticonnect?

From my experience, I can send everything except ASM and OS. But my only experience is with the TI-89 Titanium. I thought TI-Connect was distributed to the TI-83+, which I believe is the first calc with a upgradeable OS, but I am also thinking the TI-92

TI Connect came out with the USB link cable. I remember the "good old days" when I had to reflash my TI-89 with Graph-Link... oy vey, was that ever slow!

Wow, you. I remember those days, but I never remembered it being that hard to reflash.

I have been upgrade my TI-83 plus using a parallel link and TILP 6.1 you just need to send it to the OS folder in the Dirlist and have your calc on the Home Screen the program do all the other work of it.

Is there a way that I can download a ROM (yes, I do own a TI-84 Plus Silver Edition graphing calculator) from the 'net to my calculator or something? I know that VTI v. 2.5 probably works for all graphing calculators, but the TI-84+SE has a USB compatibility port that VTI probably doesn't recognize. Unless if I owned the TI-83/+/SE (which I don't have), how can I use VTI if it doesn't work for the TI-84+/SE? Btw, if it does work, what is the procedure to do this (not talking about TI-83/+/SE calcs.)? Thanks!

P.S. Again, I do have the TI-84+SE.

What you need to do is to download "rom8x" (just search for it), and follow the enclosed directions for sending the rom-dumper to your calculator and retrieving the ROM (it should work with any link software and cable). You should end up with a 2.00 MB .ROM file.

As for an emulator, I would highly recommend TiLEm over VTI. It's just a better emulator.

You need to use the OS Downloader if you are using ticonnect. If you are using the Graphlink Software, in a menu somewhere, there is a "Send OS to Calc" or something to that effect.

I think the context menu item invokes the OS downloader for you, so you never see the OS downloader window, only the transfer status window (it's been a while since I used TI Connect).

Hi,

TI-OS downloader is a useful tool when your TI-84+ is blocked

If you upgrading your calculator, you can drag and drop the OS on the TI-connect Icon, the transfer from the OS will be done.
