Some More Programs
Posted by Michael on 9 March 2004, 23:25 GMT

[ZMercury] There's been a huge influx of programs in the last few days. Everyone's favorite uber-elite author, Patrick Davidson, has released ZMercury for the 85 and 86. ZMercury is "a fast-paced, highly intense, shoot-em-up with horizontal parallax scrolling."

For something more constructive, there's Music Station by Paul Houser for the 89. Music Station is a flash application for writing and playing sheet music on your calculator. It uses the link port to output sound, either via headphones or an AM radio. This app was a runner-up in the 2003 TI App Contest.

[Synapse Accelerator]Are you feeling a bit sluggish? Synapse Accelerator for the 89 will make those neurons fly with its reflex and memory-strengthening action.

More games is always good. More news is, by the same token, also always good.

I second that. It gets so bad when news is slow, I just don't check posts. Now, there are 18, and it is nice...

This synapse - man, I need some spellin' skills - game seems pretty good. I is gonna' download it to see what it is all aboot.

If you actually try writing music with music station, you will see how useless it really is. You can't go above high C, there is no key signature or time signature, and each time that you want to make a new note, you have go through all the pitch, length, and modifier menues. I give it a 3/10.

So? At least it's a step in improving and expanding the uses of a calculator. I'm very supportive of these "giant leaps for mankind"

I think it's more the idea, or to show that you can, that was more important for the author.

Yeah, I guess so. Anyway, it says version 1.0, so I hope he updates it.

I have made a few bug fixes and interface changes, but I haven't sent it to TI to get signed. I'm waiting until I really get some major feature changes because TI sets a maximum of two public signitures for one program, and won't give you any more.

Yeah it's easy to skip past all the new files since so many were added. It's great that you mention these to us.

It is quite amazing how everyone here is so good at grammar, but when it comes to reading you guys lack majorly....

"These are approved separately from the file, so they may appear on our site a short while later than the file itself."

Directly from the upload page. Most likely the archiver has not goten around to processing them.

Yes I know. I'm just complaining. Heck, I think the reason my program is featured is because I complained about Cabamap.

Didn't Joey say no conspiracy theories? Your program was featured because Joey e-mailed me about it when processing the archives, and it was determined to be newsworthy. Nothing else affects that.

Yeah, right....

Actually I believe you. But still it's pretty ironic. And yes, I know I used the work "ironic" wrong.

Is there some reason for the z, or it is there just to make it sound cool? I know it's in a lot of programs like zKart, zTetris, etc...

The "z" is there for Z80, as in .z80 files, as in what they use to make the games?
