News Posting and Customization
Posted by Andy on 15 August 1999, 06:00 GMT

Many of you reported having problems posting using the new accounts. That problem has been fixed, so everyone should be able to post comments. If you have further problems please direct them to accounts@ticalc.org.

Additionally, many of you have reported the front page customizations not working. To enable the front page preferences, you need to go into the Account Preferences form. In it, you need to Check the option labeled "Enable Custom Front Page." To finish, click "Update." When you return to the front page and reload, you should find your customizations active.

Send an E-Mail to news@ticalc.org and they'll consider it for their news.

Whoa... I just got back from a two-week vacation last night. Why does the big stuff always happen while I'm gone?! Anyway, it'll take me a while to adjust to this new format, but it looks pretty nice. Good job, TICalc. Love the new logo.

Same here, I have been gone for a week, and just now turned on my computer and I was like, am I on the right website? Anyways, this site gets better all the time. Keep it up ticalc!

Yay, now I can post comments! I'd just like to make a suggestion: you should have an option in the preferences to make the links bar and ticalc.org logo a frame instead of just being on the top of every page.
The lack of a frame is the only thing I don't like about the new format. Keep up the good work!

Actually, most people dislike frames - and most developers consider it unprofessional to use them. Tables are compatible with weaker browsers, and as long as they're not too complex they usually use a smaller percentage of system resources. Besides, I don't want to have to have the logo frame bearing in on me while I browse, and frames look cooler =)

That's why it should be an option for people who think frames make it easier to navigate.

I agree, having the option won't hurt anyone, but give those of us who want it the ability to have them.

The emoticon makes it a joke. Just like saying "j/k" makes something a joke.

1) As Nathan said, it's a JOKE. Would Chris really want to direct people to TI-Files? :P

2) This is coming from YOU?!

I'm sorry if those colors don't apply to you very well.
I guess next time I design TI-Files, I'll make sure to plan it out by collecting up some construction paper, a pair of scissors, and some glue.
That IS how you designed this site, now isn't it? ;)
