The Quest III - Chapter 1 v1.1 ported to the TI-86
Posted on 22 November 1998, 23:35 GMT

[Quest III - Chapter 1 Screenshot]
Kirk Meyer has ported The Quest III - Chapter 1 v1.1 to the TI-86, a game originally by Mikel Blanchard of Macross Software for the TI-85 (Usgard). Kirk did most of the work on this game before he decided to resign from TI calculator programming. There are a few differences between the TI-85 and TI-86 versions, check the documentation file included for more information.

Kirk Meyer has also released Cymbol Mathematical Platform v0.3 for the TI-86. This is just a minor update over version 0.2.

The Quest III - Chapter 1 v1.1

The game is great, but I'm a little stuck. Once you get all the orbs from the mine and put them in place, you get the scroll. A sign says before leaving Lekim you must get the key from the king. Does anyone know how to do this, since the king is dead, I'm having a difficult time with this part in the game. Any help would be appreciated.

I think that this is as far as Chapter 1 goes. I read that he will be porting chapter 2 after he finishes Zelda, which he says will be worth the wait.

The game is far from over at that point. You need to get into the Mansion. You have everything you need, it is justa question if you can solve the puzzle. Best thing I can tell you to do is look at the mansion and the area around it...what is fishy about it?

Well, I looked all around the screen with the mansion and can't find anything...

Thanks a lot Mikel. I noticed it right away, but my only complaint is not knowing that I could heal other things. I spent days trying to figure out what to do at this point, and now I can finally finish the game. Thanks.

Hey.. so far I think that this is a really cool game. What impresses me even more is that there it a single, lone screen shot for a calc other than the 89 or 92(+). See, the technology is there, it just isnt often used. This is all in reference to my prevoius rant that pointed out the lack of such screen shots for the Z80 calcs. What would impress me even more would be to then place that one image in the program description for the game.

Thanks again,
Nick M.

to answer both questions:
to save go to the save beacon. you must kill the dude first and then go in the bar.
to kill the dude use the sword you got from the dying soldier that told you all kinds of crap that was already said and use 2nd to use it. after killing some dudes use some heal berries to get your life back up.

Wow. Cool game... What the heck does Elixir or that revive spell (I don't have the name at the moment...) do? I know Berries heal you, so that's all I buy:) BTW, I can't even get to the freaking scroll. Darn ghosts kill me en route to getting the orbs. Anyway, for less than 20k, this rocks. It replaces Mario on the things to play list during class.

If the mansion is the one where "something is blocking the gate" I don't know. I'm guessing the Wizards are in there, and that's where you have to take the scroll. Finally, to clear up a few things many of you don't seem to know. King does not give you the scroll. It is in the mines. Flute is in Forest- top row, 2nd block from the left(I think thats correct..) You can only save after you have beaten DK Cyber (having a Sword helps on this part!). Then, the buildings open up and one is a store, another has a save point.

After getting the heal spell from the orb door, go to the dead tree, which is the bottom tree to the right of the mansion. Press ALPHA to cast heal on the tree and you're in. You have to do this every time to get into the mansion, but it doesn't cost any MP to do it.

Go to the room where the king died and go diagonally off the right side between a pair of corpses.

Hint 1.Did you find the Heal Spell yet?
Hint 2.You can heal other things with the heal spell :o)

Thanks a lot....in case you havn't noticed, I'm
being sarcastic. Did the person who helped you hold out on you when you asked for help? I don't think so, Bud. Be a little more straightforward. Tell us the answer. Thanks in advance.
