Kirby TI Land for 68k Calcs
Posted by Michael on 14 December 2003, 21:35 GMT

[kirby screenshot]Six days ago, a really great game was uploaded: Kirby TI Land v1.0. This version of the popular game has 15 levels and 40 monsters, with transformations like power lightning. It is for the 89, 92+, and Voyage 200, with both kernel and nostub versions.

Please e-mail news@ticalc.org if you have any news that would be appropriate for us to post. All e-mails are read, even if we don't reply to you personally. I mention this because recently the amount of e-mail I've been receiving has dropped to nearly zero. Just look what happened to Seth when he sent a news@ticalc.org e-mail; his life will never be the same again. This concludes this ticalc.org public service announcement. Thank you.

Urg! Why don't they make a Mario land clone for TI-89s that's like this Kirby one. Yes, I know about SMQ, but they need to make a mario that works on AMS 2.08 and up, either nostub or with PreOs. Yes, SMQ is good, but it's kind of outdated. If the author of this game made a new SMQ with a good level editor, I would be extremely happy.

Um...nothing. The only bug is that the box does not show up when the grayscale is turned on.

Ummmm....I don't even know how to respond to that. I mean really. It was made in the old shell days. Before TIGCC, or the compressed ppg files were around.

this looks like an awesome game. hopefully i'll be able to send it to my 89 sometime. TIconnect hasn't been working for my 89 ever since i sent something to my 83+. i changed all the stuff back so it would work for the 89, but it won't work. i guess i'll have to use vti til i can get it working.

Or you can do the drag-n-drop method.

On WIN 98, you have to put the VTI in recieve mode before you can send files to it. Then you have to do it one at a time. That is why I always did it thought the USB link with TIConnect, to VTI with the Serial cable. Kind of weird.

I have 98 on my Mom's laptop, I can use drag-n-drop just fine.

Wow, you guys are lucky. On my old comp, my friend's computer, and the one here at schoo all have to be in recieve mode. To send a file to PedroM, I have to have VTI opened with another ROM, and send it via the virtual link.

On my version of VTI (2.5 beta 5), you can just hit F10 to send files...
Also, VTI doesn't support the SilverLink USB.

You are correct about that. However, TIConnect does. Also TIConnect sees the VTI as a regular calc. Using the black link as the VTI's link port, I was able to get around its limitations (at least on my machine). It worked perfectly, and not having to put the dang thing in recieve.

However, on XP, I do not have to do that.

WTF! Are you serious about TI-Connect seeing VTI as a calc? There have been several things I've needed to do that involve overclocking! w00t!

Not if the TI has silent link... only go into receive mode for the TI-82 and TI-85, I think.

What is silent link?

I cannot do as you suggest, for I have not those calcs.

You know, the thing that automatically links the calculator to the computer for sending programs... uh.....

Okay, you know how, with a TI-83/+/SE, a TI-89, or probably any newer calculator that you have, to send a program, you just plug up the calculator to the computer and send it. No need to put the calc into receive mode to send the stuff, you can do it directly from the home screen. It should be working fine, unless your VTI is messed up, somehow

It could be that something is wrong with the computers at school. Because like I said, it will not let me unless it is in recieve. But it will let me if I treat it like a real calc, and use TIConnect to send.
