Reviewer of the Month - Sam Heald
Posted by Eric on 2 November 1999, 04:45 GMT

This month, we are introducing a new award for our dedicated reviewers: Reviewer of the Month. The award for this month goes to someone who has deserved it for many months, Sam Heald. Sam has submitted over 80 reviews for the ticalc.org Reviews section, and we'd like to thank him, as well as all the other reviewers, for the great effort.

We are always looking for good, dedicated reviewers, so if you think you would be a good fit, feel free to send us an application. Thanks again to Sam and all the other reviewers!

The Review Administration will select an outstanding reviewer each month to be presented with the award.

Too bad there are only so many reviewers. Sooner or later, someone will get the award again because they ran out of people to give the award to.

I think it's better without too many reviewers. Otherwise, people would submit reviews that just say, "This game sucks," or, "Joe X's BASIC Brickyard 400 is the best. Sign, Joe X."

Although now that I look at the reviews, I see several of them are one paragraph long with the writer saying, "You jump around and the controls are nice. 10/10."

Due to high volume, it sometimes takes a little while (1-2 days). Don't worry, your application has been received.

Sorry, but this message has nothing to do with the Reviewer of the Month.

I am just wondering what does it mean when under the person name who wrote the message it said (WEB PAGE)

I guess it accomplished your goal: people are actually writing reviews now. That will last about as long as it takes for everyone on the review staff to win an award.

Perhaps their goal was to weed out idiots such as yourself. People have already been writing reviews, and with a review staff of 16 (plus I don't doubt a good number of applications comming in) they can give out unique awards for a year and a half. So wrong on both counts, and hopefully you'll have grown up by the time they run out of people. What happens if 12 new people review every year? Then you never have to grow up :)

Or until Sam gets his own news articles so often it doesn't motivate him anymore. :)
