Reviewer of the Month - Sam Heald
Posted by Eric on 2 November 1999, 04:45 GMT

This month, we are introducing a new award for our dedicated reviewers: Reviewer of the Month. The award for this month goes to someone who has deserved it for many months, Sam Heald. Sam has submitted over 80 reviews for the ticalc.org Reviews section, and we'd like to thank him, as well as all the other reviewers, for the great effort.

We are always looking for good, dedicated reviewers, so if you think you would be a good fit, feel free to send us an application. Thanks again to Sam and all the other reviewers!

Sam's a good reviewer and programmer, but he reviewed his own port of Z-Kart 3D (82-ASH) Any others that he reviewed & ported/made?

I have never reviewed a program with which I was affiliated at the time. Ticalc.org doesn't allow it, and even if they did, I wouldn't sink so low as to rate my own programs higher than other programs. At the time of the review, my name was no where mentioned in the Z-kart docs. Patrick Davidson made the port himself. After reviewing the game, I found several ways to fix bugs and optimize the source code.

So if you really wantd to be technical, my name has absolutely no business on Zkart (3D). I was just a guy who owned an 82. Patrick Davidson has taught me pretty much everything I know about Z80 ASM, I currently maintain all of his "inferior" calculator projects.

ZKart 3D is by no means an "inferior" project. Though its code is (probably) simple in nature, I've found both ZKart and ZKart 3D to be two of the most entertaining games for my calculator. It's probably easy to code, but extremely vital. :)
