Now that the 'TI Windows' era is over, SowbySoft is designing a TOTALLY NEW GUI that is not Windows-based. Hopefully, this will work on 82/83/83+ platforms. Ideas and suggestions are welcome. Please tell us what you think! Check the site for more info. www.geocities.com/sowby7

Hi, I have an idea for you that you might like. Well first of all, make a DOS program ON your TI-83. (I have already made it if you need it). Anyway, for this you can actually INSTALL programs onto your TI, as if you were doing it on your computer. Currently my TI-83 is running my full-blown version if Windows 98 TI-83 edition which I have created and keeping it to myself so far. On this DOS on the TI-83 you can make ASM programs, and instead of using a cable link you just Send it to your own TI. I have found that using this DOS is helpful if you are away from your computer!

Integrated Development Environment for BASIC

Hi :-
I've been working on a code editor for TI-83 BASIC. It runs PC-side, and requires the user to copy/paste into the TI link software. It also requires the fonts from this software to run.

Please take a look at the page above. It's still in pre-alpha at the moment, but if there's interest I'll accellerate the development cycle somewhat. :)

To come: Menu designer, bitmap designer, INCLUDEs... all sorts.

Thanx,

"Cheese" (Rob Mitchelmore) of Triplet Software

POWERTI83
Mateus Account Info

I will be starting on the possibly most powerful ASM-shell program ever created for the TI-83. I will combine the powers of SOS, ION, Ashell, and some others. I would like to design this shell to be under 2k, but that will just be a chance. If it is bigger, it won't be that much bigger, maybe 1 or 2 extra kilo bytes. I will TRY to add these features:

-Anti-Crash; I will try to set up an environment where if a ASM program crashes, then it will not take along the entire memory with it. Instead, the shell would detect an unusal HALT, and exit the program. (I am still trying to complete the design)

-Debugg; A debugger where you can fix your ASM programs (I don't know how I am going to do this yet, but I am open for suggestions)

-MemoryLock; I think I know howto do this, but if it works it will LOCK your memory in the case that POWERTI83 would crash your calculator. So if it crashes, then your memory will be restored.

-ZIPPER; This will be a seperate program that can ZIP your NOT-IN-USE programs. I will try to make it so when you will not be using a program for a while, you can zip it, and then it would be half or 1/4 the size. (Kind of like squishng, but when zipped, the program won't work)

Those are what I wil TRY to do, but the following will be for sure:

-Run any ASM or BASIC program

-Be compatable with ION, SOS, and Ashell programs.

-User-friendlyness; a very easy to use graphical interface.

-Personilize; with this you can personlize your KEYBOARD, and other stuff.

-DATABASE; with this you can store scores from different games (both ASM, and BASIC), programs that store phone numbers, and such can store it in POWERTI83, and takeup less memory.(Maybe I won't include this)

-Time tracker-I will meake it so that the calculator will store the date, time, and thing like that.

POWERTI83 will come out AFTER I finish Age of Empires II, the Age of Kings.

I am building an assembler for the TI-83 called TICAS(Texas Intrusments Calculator Assembler). The package will consist of an Assembler, a source Editor and a disassembler. All parts of the program will run on the calculator, allowing you to build assembly language programs anywhere. In the spirit of the true Hacker Ethic I will place TICAS in the public domain for anyone to do what they want with.

Later I may port it to other calculators or add a FORTH assembler/dissambler.

ALN Image Codec
Alain Meunier  Account Info

Hi!

I'm working on an image compressor/decompressor for the Ti-83(+). It's called ALN Image Codec and I already uploaded the first release, so it should be available in a couple of days.

It's written in BASIC (I'm too lazy to learn asm) and it can save as many ALN images as your calc can hold, ALL of them stored in Str7. What it does is saving one after another in the same string and knowing when one image starts and when it ends. The program is slow and memory-taking for big and detailed images (hopefully going to improve it on a next release), but it's very convenient for those little drawings we do and do not want to store in a Pic (taking 764 bytes)...

Ok, it would be very good to work with someone who can help me fixing the memory problem (if the image is too big you get ERR:MEMORY in the middle of the compress) and maybe even converting it to asm...?

For now, if you want to download the program (it will be here in TI-83 BASIC Misc. Programs and it's called ALN Image Codec) and tell me what you think of it, and what could I do to improve it, it would be very good =D

Just to mention, the compression works really well, basically converting 2 or more black dots in the screen to lines (currently works only horizontaly but I already know how to do it vertically too). If you want me to explain more email me.
The decompression program is really good, it tells you the size and compression ratio for each one of your images, can send and receive ALN images to/from other calc, etc etc...

Also it would be very cool to have some kind of (PC)program that converts a black and white 84x63 image to ALN format compressed image.

Tell me what you think! even if your comment is bad... =D

I am currently working on an ASM version of Doors XP, a multitasking GUI interface that autodetects ASM, SOS, Ash, and BASIC programs. It includes an incredibly fast mouse program and drivers for connecting a real (!!) mouse through the linkport. It is very similar to Windows XP, with a start menu, My Documents and My Pictures folders, Word XP and Excel XP, and many other incredibly cool programs such as Media Player XP that can play music! This program will be a major breakthrough in TI shells, and can be used as an alternative to the TI-OS. Once run for the first time, it can shutdown, restart, and includes the option of a secure, integrated, uncrackable password protection program. It allows multiple usernames with separate preferences for each user. Respond or email me at Kerm_Martian@yahoo.com if you have any comments, questions, or suggestions. You will love it!

Download simulator
Sean Coughlan  Account Info
(Web Page)

I'm trying to make a program that will simulate downloads on your calculator. You enter the file size and download speed and it displays something similar to the default windows download tool. A bar will move across the screen according to what percent of the file is done. So far I have the easy part done, that's the part that actually figures out how long a download will take. But now I have to find a way to get a status bar to correctly display how much time is left to the "download". I'm not even sure if this can be done since the calculator doesn't have a clock. Does anyone have any ideas as to how I could do this? I have uploaded what I have so far to the misc programs section under the TI-83 section. You can find it by searching for SIMLOAD.

Thanks,
Sean
