When I was ten they just came out with the 85. When my sister (she was in college at the time) told me that people were playing tetris I thought she was pulling my leg.

When I saw someone playing tetris on their 86 I was amazed. I knew their had to be a way to do that on my 83+, I didn't have my 86 at the time. I found a thing called a graph-link, I found ticalc.org and here I am. In a matter of weeks I got not only my friends, but almost everyone I knew playing games.

Gosh, when I was 10 I had no idea what the hell a calculator was. .... Oh yes, I remember, it was one of those fantastic gadgets my father used (a casio scientific calc).

When I was ten, the only calculator I had used was an _old_ Casio (non-scientific) with an LED display.

This is starting to sound like that Monthy Python scetch... ;-)

Positive effects of graphing calculators

I think it's weird. I'm 17 and I'm going to be a senior, I got an 85 during the 10th grade, and just got my 89 last year. I'll be in AP Calculus BC this year, and I barely ever use my calcs for math work. My calcs are all for programming, which I enjoy. It's an easy way to create something that others will use. I know lots of people who don't own calcs for the math capabilities, but rather as handheld computers. You can use them to keep schedules, entertain yourself, and learn how to program. According to the survey more and more young teens are learning how to program at an earlier age. They are learning problem solving and mathematical skills, which will help them a lot later in life.

may the ti community forever exist...

Why do 16-year-olds get their own category?

55th vote for 17/18 and a proud member of the class of 2000

By this I'm assuming you're 15... get over it.

One of the things that amazed me in school (I homeschool now) is that 10th grade kids sneer at the 9th. Why? The thought never occured to them that a few months earlier they were the ones they look down on now. Trust me... you've never matured as much as you think you have.

When I was a senior I didn't care to much for sophmores because they act asinine, yes we know we were that way at some point. At that age you think your great, but by the time your a senior you grow up and wish they would too.

Actually, in my school the freshmen try to look down on the sophomores but fail miserably... and the sophomores just hang around minding their own business.

I must go to a really strange high school... :-)
