I use my calculator as a porn-to-go type machine.
And the 89 is perfect for just such animations.
[Check out the new Hotgirl.89z]
Heh, i'm just joking. [Hopefully] But I do like the fact that it can work as a Game-boy type on vacations.
And its great to be able to play Super Mario v.1.1.0 since it's not AMS 2.03 compatible.

I often have problems playing assembly games on my TI-89 during long vacations for it is a very unstable machine and crashes frequently. Because I use AMS 1.00, I lose everything on the calculator when it crashes rendering it a boat anchor. I never use third-party archive utilities of any sort because of my paranoid fear that they might permanently damage my calculator.

the only thing that I used my calculator for inthe summer is testing out new programs and making programs otherwise it is only used when i feel like not listening to math teachers since they are mostly going slower then hell and bore me to death

No Calculator Rights
jestbsemple  Account Info

That's mostly what I use my calc for during the school year anyway. I only play games on it if I'm really bored. Otherwise I program. And I can't play games in class *gasp* because teachers have slowly taken away my "calculator rights".

Ever notice that it's always your friends that want to borrow the games after the thrill is gone for you? (Then they crash it!) Now I think the programming part is much more fun...

I use it because it is a great tool for engineer students.

playing games is just not as much fun if you are allowed to. There is not the rebellious factor as in class

Yeah! Half-Life rocks! So does Counter-Strike! Why can't people make better ti-83 games?!?!? Or for that matter, better ti-83 rpg's??? Anywunka, just wait and when i learn a little more asm, I will rule over you all. go to
www.theclq.com/asp/find.asp?pid=1960857
and check out my awesome stats on hl-dm. Not calculator related, but maybe someone should make better games so I don't have to keep coming back and checking and not catching up with my 83 programming because no good game's are being released and then I waste more time on counter-strike and half-life and then one day.... one day! You'll will all bow down to my greatness and omnipotence! One day. Oh, and 86's are a little too clumsy for me. Menu's upon menu's. Eck! Go 83's(plus, maybe).

Hmm, looks like the user base of ticalc is obvious. Too bad you couldn't vote for both of the last two, personally, due to -popular- opinion, I voted as a nerd, but the second to last one looked good too. I wonder how Nickd voted??

25 on an 83+? I made 70 on my 89, with an average of 50.

Yes - it's called a TI-92+

Duh- I forgot the 92+ :but then again that's one big calculator. I'm just envisioning something like a foldout keyboard type thing on something not much bigger than an 89- but I guess that's called a reeeely small laptop :).

mr_beans_cool

The only bad thing is that a QWERTY keyboard, like on the TI-92, can't be used in school at all I don't think. I do know that they cannot be used on SAT's and all those, because if they have a QWERTY keyboard (which by the way comes from the first 5 letters on the top row of the computer keyboard), because if the calculator has a QWERTY keyboard, it's considered a computer!!! Figure that!!! It has TI-92 Calculator wrote right on it!

note: the ti92, ti92-2, and the ti92+ all have qwerty key boards... and why not just use a ti89 for all the standardized tests(excluding act because you have to use one of there calcs)? a 89 has exactly the same cas as the 92+, the only differance is that the 92+ has capri geometry...

Actually, QWERTY is the first SIX letters in the top row on the keyboard (and did you know that it was designed in the typewriter days to slow people down (so that the keys didn't jam)

Also, wether or not you can use a 92 (+) in school (or an 89 for that matter) depends on your teacher's (and/or school's) rules / calculator policy. In our school there was a new policy put in place in January that you are not allowed to use an 89 (or above) on tests, and the only reason that the policy was made is that the head of the math department got one for Christmas (and therefore discovered the powers of the CAS). That only stopped me from using it on TESTS in Algebra II, in Geometry I was still allowed to use it for tests.

Yah, same with our school. We cant use ti89 or up because of their "ability to solve equasions". Hello, the ti-83+'s equ(! duh

Good idea for TI: Make a calculator like the 92 but with a Dvorak keyboard. Since it's not QWERTY, it would be allowed on the ACT.

I could mail you PSERTY for the TI-83 - it works at a pseudo-respectable rate and is in alpha - it just needs testers.

Clarification - turn your 83 sideways and forget that your "monitor" is a tiny LCD screen.
