I feel like a retard because I only know 3.14. I guess that sort of explains why I have yet to download a math program from this site, yet have been downloading games for the past 3 years.

You're not a retard because face it, no one NEEDS to remember more than 3.14 anyways. After all, that is part of the reason we buy calculators...

Another reason one doesn't need to memorize many digits of pi is that often its best just to leave it as pi, like with radians, or multiply at the end of the equation.

no, we need 39 digits

with 39 digits you can calculate the circumfrence of the known universe to within the width of a single hydrogen atom.

I think thats close enough.

My brother memorized Pi to the 200th decimal place. It started as a bet in math class, he was supposed to memorize it to the 75th place, but he really surprised the teacher by getting it to the 100th place. He made another bet that he could get it to 200th place by the next day, and he did. He can even recite it backwards from 200. Its pretty wierd. All I know is that 3.14159 part.

how about a P sub pi raised to the Tth ( it looks much better on paper with subscirpts and superscripts

(it is read as: "P sub pi raised to the teeth")

Why wasn't there an option of "I don't know any of it, but i know where the PI key is on my calculator"? We are a calculator oriented site are we not? Hehehehehe...oh well, i got 3.14

We expect people to use the pi key on their calculator SO much that they would inadvertently commit it to memory.
It would be even more ironic if they memorized "3.1415927" :)

My friend memorized the TI-83's 3.141592654 (it should be a 3 at the end, the 83 rounds up because the next digit is a 5)
