It seems that they copied slashdot in many ways, such as karma and threshholds.

no, slashdot copied a system already in place. It's everywhere, really. Slashdot did improve message-moderation a lot, which a lot of people copied (cough phpnuke cough)

its a system of increasing rank in the chat forums by earning karma from posting news articles and surveys and so forth until everyone bows down to you and pays money to listen to your opinions and this is a run on sentence

I love Konqueror too... It doesn't always render the pages quite right, but when this is a problem I can do a simple Right Click->Open With->FireFox. BTW, with Konqueror, so do a Google search like that, just type in (without the quotes) "gg:4th of July" and away you go! Oh, and TI-News is cool. MWM
