Well, duh. The 89 is awesome and the 89Ti is the same price, but with more memory. You can't lose by buying the 89Ti instead of the 89, and the 89 rocks!

I have a TI-83 Plus, and that's enough for me. I don't need a TI-89, nor a TI-89 Titanium.

Okay -- so What should I get?

My first calc was an 86, its a good calc, but not what I was after.

So I got a 92 (I love it!) But TI discontinued it (augh!) plus I feel like such an outsider (in the ti calc community...)

I'm getting tired of always buying the wrong calc. Could the 89t be the calc I'm looking for? Or am I just in for more heartache?

Well, the 89/89Ti are similar to the 92 in that they're in the same family of calcs, so they would be familiar in how they operate. The difference is that the 92 has the QWERTY keyboard, which means you can't use it on standardized tests (And maybe tests in college...I'll know in the fall : )). If you want a calculator with a QWERTY keyboard, then get the Voyage200, otherwise get the 89Ti (Assuming you need performance and power. If that doesn't matter to you, then get an 83+ or one of the 84 models. But guessing that you wanted to upgrade from the 86, get the 89Ti).

yah, the 86 is a pretty cool calculator, as well as the 92. I got both of them for free somehow (don't mean to brag) and Love actually finding purposes for each of them. Anyway, from what I've been pondering, if you're not big on programming your own math programs, then get the 89 titanium. It has more built in functions and is probably much better for higher math courses such as AP Calculus or Statistical Analysis. However, if you're like me, and prefer to make super math programs that do everything you could possibly imagine, then go with an 83 or 84. They give you all the utilities you need to make your own math programs, plus the code style is similiar to the 86 (if you're used to that). I guess that's what I have to say.

The only problem I have with my 89 titanium is that most of the assembly programs on the site don't work. Instead of everybody crashing their 89 titanium with the plain 89 assembly programs, ticalc should add a new folder called 89ti for 89 titanium. I hate to crash my 89 titanium because it takes forever for the ram to reset even with the backup battery out.

The TI-89T does not have more RAM. It has more FlashROM than the "regular" TI-89.

It doesn't have more RAM. TI reorganized the memory map so they can add more RAM, but they didn't actually add any. :-( So we have both the compatibility issues caused by reorganizing the memory map, and not a single byte of extra RAM. :-(

I like my TI-89, and I have three PDAs, and an 83+SE. I don't think I need the 89Ti.

My main reson for buying the 89ti is that before I only had a 83+ but wanted a new one since the 83+ was designed by stoners. I figured if I was going to get a new calc I would go for the newest since $135 isn't a problem for me anymore (I got a job, YAY!!!).

Put a stick of dynamite in it and blow it up. Or you could just run it over with an road roller. :D
