Well, no not because magnus is doing a good job -- and I am sure that he is -- but because I have not been around here lately. I have been making my own webpage, and it is rather all consuming as pertains to my time. What has been going on any way?

There was the fact that the "return to poll results" link was gone...I mentioned that in the last poll. I just noticed that they didn't celebrate my half birthday in a news item as well...that's a serious mistake... ;)

oh really? well did you catch that the URL's are just "http:///" when it is left blank? I mentioned that about 6 news items or polls ago...(In IE put your mouse over the Web Page link and look at the status bar to see what I mean...)

But we never got a poll for Jrock's birthday! :'(

'Nother question: You know those little orange icons next to your userID? Well, if somebody is hiding their user information, why do they still get the icon? Before it just wouldn't show up.

Also (as Jrock pointed out below... or maybe above), the http:/// problem popped up some time ago. Why did it change?

whoa, i just found out something interesting. Albert Einstein and Sierpinski were both born on March 14, pi day! I think i had heard about Einstein being born then once before, but i forgot about it. And Descartes was born on March 31! He invented the Cartesian coordinate system, which is the x,y axis system we use on our graphing calcs today! Yay! Ill have to bake birthday pie and make a sierpinski's triangle of candles in it on March 14! That'll take a lot of candles though...

i noticed three things:

First, a few weeks back, magnus posted a post (whatever) that just said "test" and then posted and said "it seems to work now" or something like that.

Second, i noticed the missing "return to news item" or whatever and i wasnt sure if it had ever really been there, maybe i was just crazy. But then jrock pointed that out and i realized i wasnt crazy after all.

Third, in the pi day preparing poll magnus posted another "test" and then another "it works now" and then i posted something and the "return to news item" thing was back. And I was happy! :)

I have a theory: If you put 1,000,000 typewriting monkey in charge of 1,000,000 internet servers for 1,000,000 years, you will end up with 1,000,000 programs being uploaded to ticalc.org per day. We should try that! Oh, wait...forgot. Of those 1,000,000 programs, 999,999 of them are 83+ Basic Quadratic Formula programs....nevermind... ;)

That reminds me of when i was in the county spelling bee in 5th grade. I totally bombed it because i hadnt been given the word list by my school and had led a sheltered life away from words like hors d'oeuvres. Anyways, this 4th grade girl got every single word right, except "misspell". She got it wrong because she wrote "mispell", then realized her mistake and wrote "misspell" next to it, and was halfway through crossing out her mispelling (i know its wrong) when the time was called, so they counted it as wrong. (we didnt get quizzed one word at a time in front of a crowd, we all wrote each word on a paper and then had them checked)

Everyone who has said anyhting about the archivers being slow (at least all that I have seen) have also had a "j/k" or some kind of joking smily at the end of the post. I think we understand that it's a tough job. BTW, how long does it take to upload programs? I figure that if I'm on as much as I am, I could at least help out...let me know and I might apply if you'll hire me (or rather "allow me to volunteer").... ;)

The reason there has been no uplaods recently is not becasue I ran out of time or have lost interest, its based on a pretty deep debate that we need to resolve prior to continuing uploading files.

Do not worry they will be up as soon as we can figure it out, an don't bother asking what the debate is I'm not going to say.

I am actually really surprised I haven't gotten a single email to filearchive@ticalc.org about someone complaining that the files need to be upploaded, and FYI that won;t do you any good :-)
