It was a very hard decision between "file archiver", "reviews", and "shorter posting times", but I picked the reviews-if we're lucky, in a few months I won't have to download every synthetic division program if I'm looking for one, and test them out to find the best.

That wouldn't be too hard to make, actually. If I were you, I'd wait until I'm in a really boring class in school and just make it then. That way you can customize it however you like.

If you can remember it, yeah, synthetic division is easier. It's just... different. The long way is... well, longer, but it's more logical (even though you're really doing the same thing). It just makes more sense, to me, anyway.

I know-the long division method takes too long and is pointless!!!

Oh yeah, I learned it in alg, then forgot it. This year, I'm taking Honors Geometry and another Algebra course (more pencil+paper work, though), where I re-learned it. It's seriously the easiest class in the world. It's probably because it's kinda there for the seniors that failed trig and couldn't handle calculus... oh well :)

BTW, does ANYBODY know what the purpose of matrices in math are? Other than systems of equations, is there any point? I can't think of some real-life application that would use them. Beisdes, matrix work is more tedious than substitution/elimination, in my opinion.

Well, yeah, I could write one within a day-I was just using that as an example. :-)

I always thought it was easier to do long division by hand.

I always used my TI-89. That may explain what I'm doing here in the first place.

It depends... if the problem is small, do it by hand. If it's really big, use a calculator.
