does anyone know why you can't have a calc with a qwert keyboard on SAT's etc? i assume it's because then it'd be seen as a note taking device/computer... now if all of the 8x's with flash get a keyboard then will they ban those too? or is the reason they don't allow qwert on SAT's etc... because they don't want you to take notes DURING the test?

i'm not getting one.. i've got a full sized collapsable one on my palm 3xe for taking notes (which i don't use anyway... teachers find it annoying.. i used it once to copy a bunch of poems from a book that i had 2 minutes to do before school was over and i had no way of getting a book...)

but anyway... i don't think it's worth $40 when i find the NUMBER pad on the CALCULATOR much better than a qwert keyboard with numbers along the top. and there's no room in my backpack.

um, it's actually because of IR links. that's why HP's are banned, as well as the mem cards.

Well the TI92/92+ and the Voyage 200 don't have IR links but they are still banned. They have the qwerty keyboard though.
The TI89 is basically the same as the 92+ but without the qwerty keyboard and it is allowed on the SAT and ACTs (not sure about the ACT).

89's are not allowed on the ACTs. They aren't allowed because of their "Advanced Mathematics Software." That's why the 89's aren't allowed. They're too smart.

I think the reason they ban the 92(+) and not the 89 is because with the QWERTY keyboard it is easier to copy the questions into your calculator, and they do not want anybody leaving the test center with the questions, because they try as hard as they can to keep the questions secret because they use them over and over, to prevent from having to write a completely new set for each test date. The same applies to AP tests also, because unlike the essays, which are released every year, they only release the multiple choice questions once every 5 or 6 years.

I think that it was a good idea on TI's part. It is going to make somethings easier. After all if you want a tech device with easy typing and all that then get a PDA not a graphing calculator.

Extra's are good and I would consider getting one if I didn't have a 92p.

I read a lot about compatibility issues. It only works on the calculators with a Flash ROM because it requires an application to run.

And TI should have an OS that supports it.

It doesn't require an application, TI just doesn't want to support the older calculators.

TI-83+ OS 1.15 and 68k AMS 2.08 support it.

I wish I could get one, but I don't have $40 bucks.

Probably not, I have computer and a TI-92. If I want to type full speed, like writing programs, I will use my computer. It's easier to read them there anyway. So haha! Everyone who said the keyboard on the 92 was stupid, what's up now, paying your $40? :-P I think it's a waste of money anyway!!

Okay, some ppl here have serious problems. One of you went to my site, downloaded super pi 3 times in a row, then signed my guestbook in a totally inappropriate manner...
