I believe TI should release all graphlink programs to all versions of OSs, that way, everyone would be happy and don't have to rush out and but Windows!

I think that TI should release the protocol specifications.
It will be more interesting that porting the TI-Connect software (which is slow and inefficient).

Hmm, now that's a good idea.... As I said above, too bad TI doesn't care.

First of all, most of you posting are:
1. Windows users just spamming the board
2. Script kiddies who think they are hackers
3. Windows users who have never used a Mac and never knew what Linux was.

Linux is used by millions of people all around the world. It's well rounded and is the top choice for security. Even Microsoft.com uses linux. So why are you arguing about Windows being better?

There's no apostrophe. Apostrophes show possession, and you're intending to show plurality, thus a simple "s" only will suffice. I'm sorry to nitpick apart your grammar, but it bothers me as much as people who misspell "etc."

Not really. What has changed is I only come on the TI sites now when I have nothing else to do, which means I must be in a bad mood and have done all the homework I possibly can already :)

You sound like me!
Sometimes I spell it "&c", because:
(a) I have seen it that way in several old books
(b) It looks cool.
(c) & is an abbreviation for 'et', whick is latin for 'and'
(d) c means 'cetera', whick is latin (I think) for 'others'

I hate it when people say 'and etc', which is both redundant and really stupid-sounding.

See the Web Page link....don't listen to those rumors, they aren't true. It's been always running on IIS and Windows.

So is 'Windows Unknown' a common system then, is it worth installing?

Linux may be better for servers, but Windows is much better for the *average* home user. And I have used Mac and Linux. I use them on a daily basis, so you can't write me off as some ignorant Microsoft lover. My main computer is dual-boot WinXP/Red Hat 7.3, and I have a PowerBook G3 running OS X. OS X is a lot better than OS 9 was, but it's a lot slower than XP on comparable hardware. I am speaking from experience here, so don't even try to shoot me down by saying that I'm not giving facts. It is a fact: OS X is slower than XP. Even my Mac-loving Microsoft-hating uncle admits that. Sorry if I sound rude, but I'm sick and tired of people saying that anyone who uses Windows knows nothing about other operating systems etc... I know people haven't been saying those exact words but many have been implying that.

HAHAHAHAHAHAAAAAAAAAAA!!!

sorry, I was in a bad mood when I said that. True, most of us aren't your average human being. I'm the only person in my grade who knows how to do any serious programming. It's very sad....

If your talking about programming calcs, that is a good thing (at least in my school). If the students don't know how to program, then one can logically conclude that the teachers wont expect you to write "helper programs" for class.

First off, there isn't even a Mac OS X version of TI Connect. Mac users have to use the Classic environment (for those of you who aren't familiar with that, it's like dual booting from Linux to Windows to run a single program.)

I think TI should simply release the source code for the kernel of the application (the connection to the calculator, etc.) and let the open source community deal with the interface and OS compatability issues.

The classic environment isn't exactly like dual booting. Instead of booting into OS 9 instead of OS X, classic runs a copy of OS 9 on top of OS X. It only has to be launched once every time you boot, and it's almost totally transparent. The only evidence you see of OS 9 running in the background is the dialog when it starts up for the first time, and it shoes up in the 'force quit' dialog (similar to the 'end task' dialog in Win9x). Nothing special is needed to run an OS 9 program, you just double click on it and OS X and Classic do the rest for you. It's slightly inconvenient, but not even close to being as inconvenient as having to boot into a different OS.
