TI-H: Boot-up Problem with 83 Plus

I have a problem with my TI-83 Plus. Every time I turn it on it loads up and
displays the last thing I had running, but then immediately before I can get
a keystroke in shuts it self back off. I called TI and they told me to leave
the batteries out for 6-8 hours. I did that but I have the same problem, the
only thing is little black dots have been added to the screen. Now they have
completely consumed the screen when I try to turn it on. I think I am having
some problem with my FLASH start up application. I think if I could just
clear the FLASH ROM I would probably solve the problem. I called TI again
today and they told me that I needed to send the unit in to TI to get
repaired. I really would rather not do that. When I asked the TI rep on the
phone if there was a manual way to reset ALL memory on the calc. ROM, and RAM
he wouldn't answer me. So basically my question is this... Is there some way
of manually resetting EVERYTHING on the calculator. I know on the older TI's
there was a RESET button in the ion battery compartment. The TI-83 Plus
appears to have no such reset button. I would really appreciate any help
anyone could give me. Thank-you.
