No it will not. The lcd and the timers and the link I/O are going on a
secondary oscillator in the Ti89:s
You can find info about it in J89hw.txt that you can find on my site:

I don't think it would be a good idea to overclock the lcd either.
You would probably have problems with timeings and such.
But please try :)
