I may be guessing, but the reason TI made it that way is:
Most UNIT conversions just involve multiplication. Temperature requires
addition & multiplication. Simple enough, but if you realize TI has just
'assigned' constants to the Units, you would understand how they work. Give
them a break. its a pretty good calculator w/o the 'direct' conversion. Oh,
and do you remember what 2 other temperature units can also be converted w/
tmpcnv()?
May I suggest you 'teach' you students why it is more difficult for a TI to
do temp's.
