The 83 doesn't need ZSHELL.  It can run binary files directly.  They are
also easier to write for the 83 since they're loaded at a fixed location in
memory and don't move.  This eliminates using variable offsets and allows
direct references to data areas within the user program.  The machine
language documentation for the 83 is quite extensive.
