RE: A89: Me distributing roms.

The OC-1 is 51.84Mbps. At least according to the ATM forum, and they should
know.

But as you say, the T3 is something else. T3 is over copper, OC-1 is over
fiber. T3s are usually run in SONET rings over fiber later in the net, and
this is what dictates the speed, but to the end point, it's copper. And
though SDH speeds are almost the same as ATM speeds, it's not an exact
match. And when you start looking at actual data transfer, the differences
between SDH and ATM makes it almost impossible to compare (async vs sync,
protocol overhead etc) directly.

Then, to make things even more complicated, there is the E1, E3 etc speeds
that are used for SDH everywhere except the US. Where an E1 is ~ 2mbit,
while the T1 is only ~1.5.

Yeah, but OC is fibre-optic, and usually T3/T1's come on twisted pair. Now,
if I'm wrong, I'd be glad to hear about it, but I'm gonna trust the tech guy
until otherwise proved.

Yes, sorry.. you did say 192 * T3. So you say a T3 = OC-1?
