yes, it will function without the magnet, it is so an spike wont ruin your
calc, it will work with out and it is highley unlikely that your calc will get
a spike. How i knew that was, i had a palmtop computer and when you hooked it
up to power source with cable it had a plastic box, which the wire wrapped
through, and i was snap together so i opened it and saw it was a magnet and i
also know from my experience with electronics
