Re: A86: Loading Strings and Graphics

Anybody know about making a new memory controller?

I just heard a lot about how the Atari8bit machines had extra memory added
to them.. somebody had to take out the memory controller chip, and replace
it... with a board of some sort with more stuff on it that connects to other
devices. To keep TIOS from barfing, you could have the same amout of memory
accesible at a time... and write to a special address to switch between the
memory sections.

If we had more memory (and the special controller) we could have devices
that read off of that memory, heck we might be able to let the device write
to that memory while TIOS is doing its stuff.

We could make our own higher speed bus for the 86!

There should still be a way to map memory to the gbcolor screen controller
as a device.
It would be even more cool if you could get the hardware graphics to work...

I don't think the 86 would accept a gameboys screen, especially a gbc
screen...
