I tried out MidPak and DigPak, but they really stink. Search for a utility
called Scream Tracker 3.0 on the internet. Epic MegaGames uses this
exclusively for their games. It produces music and sound effects 50 times
better than anything you can make and play back from MidPak and DigPak.
There is also a little known FTP site on the internet called x2ftp at
<ftp://x2ftp.oulu.fi/pub/msdos/programming/00Main.html> which I use quite
often to get things. This site is a massive hand-picked programming
archive (no longer updated...bummer).

I use Borland's Turbo C/C++ 3.0 for DOS. Cheap piece of junk I bought for
$80. However, it works for my purposes, so I really don't care, except
they said it came with TASM but it really didn't.

Would be fun...would also be my first REAL game for the PC next to a crappy
huge 1MB game called CystQuest which really reeked. Still have it for
those who want to see what I mean. I was attempting to cross QuickBasic, a
compiled PCX viewer and sound player (using drivers for VOC files) (both
were external programs). Don't ask why, I just was. Oh, I remember why.
The sounds were allocated into memory using DOS allocation methods and the
PCX pictures were allocated using farmalloc(). So, I just decided to
program in my home language of QuickBasic (hadn't switched totally over to
C yet) and use two external programs. Idea stunk, end of discussion. If
anyone wants the program...I didn't do the graphics (a friend of mine at
school did them in Windows Paintbrush which I converted to PCX) which adds
to the size and crappiness of the game.
